I actually shoot my AX (SA) a bit more than my MRAD...just because bbls are cheaper to replace on the AX. I pulled my AI bbl (Bartlein-WinTac?) and put in a custom bbl...my AI bbl shoots better than the custom bbl. Would love a new AXSR and AT-X.

Almost bought the 300PRC bbl kit when it was on sale...but the $ went to a semi custom build. The updates are nice (for ASR).
Wish I can try the newer 2-stage trigger.

Both rifles are awesome and will remain in my collection!

My understanding is that AI barrels you can get in the U.S. are made in the U.S.

Since this is a long-running thread it appears there've been some updates in the MRAD. The military has adopted it in 3 calibers, so apparently the bolt head is changeable now:

The ASR replaces the Precision Sniper Rifle for special ops snipers. It is a bolt action rifle that can be converted to fire .338 Norma Mag, .300 NM and 7.62 mm calibers.

Recently contacted a few dealers about MRAD availability it's 6-12 months from what I was told. Thinking that's due to the mil. contract.

Found a local deal on a un-used AXMC in .338LM, I could not pass it up.

I only mentioned it because someone in the thread earlier said it wasn't.

At any rate I guess I can kiss my hopes of getting one goodbye because they will always be out of stock or at full price.

Fast forward 2022, now the bolt heads are much easier to change… used to jam my knuckles bleeding changing from one caliber to the next.

There's a conversion kit from old to new bolt (2022)?

I have 3 AIs (ASXR, AXSA, AX-T) and 10k+ rounds though AIs. Would be fun to do a shoot out with a couple Barretts.

Both now have Bartlein bbls and should shoot great!

Although not sure if MRAD production will have same Bartlein bbl or their in-house bbls?

I like the new AT-X and AT-X Chassis. But kinda invested in the MDT ACC.

Haven't shot my MRAD or AX-SA much. Mostly my PRS setup, 6mmGT.
