I will try to be there (never been to sly park before), but I can't 100% commit to it because I'm not sure if I've got my son that day or not, and I wouldn't really be able to bring him if I do. So don't get mad if I'm a no-show. But if I'm free, I'm there. I don't have a truck, but I can bring trash bags and haul at least a couple bags home in my trunk. Are we also planning to do some shooting?

That is a 6 hour round-trip Drive sadly. A lot of us just don't have the time to drive all the way up there from the Bay Area.

Meet up time still 10:00am Sunday across from the market? I will pick up garbage bags and maybe a rack or 2. Are any of you planning on sending some lead down range? I do not want to bring anything if no one is going to shoot.

Hey everyone, I am very sorry but I can not go Sunday. I just got back from the emergency room. I was outside working for the past few days in the heat. I got heat exhaustion and can't go outdoors for a week. My wife was complaining, as always that since I got hurt over 9 years ago, that I did nothing, so I was going to kill myself if that's what it took to please her. Well, She left me after 30 years. Apparently she has had it all planned out for awhile but I had no idea. People that don't have chronic pain dont understand and I have taken her to many Doctors and Surgeon appointments and they told her that she was completely wrong etc.

Anyways, I sincerely apologize to everyone going. A very nice guy gave me $40.00 to buy everyone water and drinks, and beer afterwards. If anyone of you would like to reply back to be in charge of getting everyone refreshments, My house is on the way to the cleanup area and I will give you the money. Otherwise I will return it to the donor.

May God richly bless everyone of you for volunteering to clean this area up before we get thrown out of another area.

I feel like pond scum for not being able to go and help like I had planned all along. If I could go without being a burden and taking a chance on making my situation worse, I would be there.

The gentleman who posted the coordinates and the name of the road is correct, It is Bonetti road and the previous instructions I listed will get you right to the area. There are a ton of spots along that road that are literally dumps from irresponsible shooters that make us all look bad.

I am so sorry everyone. I feel like such a jerk to bail on you at the last minute. I found out the hard way that after being in bed or indoors for the past 9 years, you can get extremely sick and pass out from the heat.

RevolverFan, I don't even know what to say bud, that's all terrible news. Don't feel bad about not coming, in the grand scheme of things a range cleanup is way less important than focusing on yourself right now.

No worries, you should rest and get well. I am still going to go. I will pick up as much trash as my little Vibe will hold. Dont want to take the prius cause i never been there. Truck is out of service for a little longer. I do not need the money. I will supply water and beer for the people who show up. I will do my best to follow directions to the spot. I will be across from the market as planned till 10:15 as planned. Hope to see some of you there. I will be in a Redish Vibe.

Every little bit helps, I don't shoot up there anymore, but people have destroyed the forest up there on Bonetti Road. I would go shooting up there and we would bring our own targets and lay down a tarp to catch shellno casings. My local range organizes a cleanup party periodically up in that area. It's a shame people have so much disregard for our forest. The times I was up there I talked to a few people that were shooting across a waterway and the road and I politely asked them to stop and they did. They were oblivious to any rules and said they were from the bay area and didn't know. Anyway, I would like to point out that unless people are held accountable, they will keep on littering the forest.

Thank you for you kindness and understanding.

I have had a tough 9 plus years, but my wife of over 30 years leaving me now when I really need help with all my issues, and the way she did it was so deceitful, I wonder what was really in her heart all these years.

I needed a driver to the doctor for a procedure. She said she couldn't do it because she was helping someone set up for a wedding. So I had to cancel the possible pain relieving appt. I had a regular doctor appointment before that appointment. So, when I get home she has been here and cleaned me out pretty well. I went to wash my hands and even the paper towel holder/dispenser was gone.

I'm going to have to do something about removing access through the gate at the driveway and figure out how to rekey some quickset locks. She said she wanted to be friendly and civil. That is really friendly, denying me much needed pain relief so she could come take what she wanted.

I don't know how I'm going to do it but I need a lawyer real bad. It's a long story, I don't want to bore you with.

I know that area where the cleanup is very well and unfortunately, there will be.more opportunities to clean up out there.

Thanks again for your kindness Brother. I really appreciate it... I also was looking forward to shooting a new match barrel. It looks beautiful and is Stainless steel, with a black free floating hand guard with a red grip underneath. I have never owned such a nice barrel. I never spend money on me but since my wife went behind my back and bought a new 2017 Honda Accord with everything, and I have a 2002 civic with over 200k and a 2001 Dodge truck with 160k, I now I can't buy a car. So I just happened to see this Upper on sale for a great price, I decided to get something for myself. I am so anxious to shoot it but with my situation, I can't go outside for at least a week. Then I have to get rechecked before the doctor will release me.

I have to learn that I need to stop being so stubborn and "I'll show you" attitude has got to go. I darn near killed myself and she had this planned for some months. She works under the table as an interior designer and has not been home 99% of the time. What I was trying to show her didn't matter a bit as I didn't know she was all set and just waiting for me to be gone so she could get whatever she wanted and go.

I truly could care less about stuff. She does and has changed everything many times and more but, I am done.

I hope you all have a great time shooting and the cleanup is all shaded in every area your at. It has been close to 100 here and that's rare but Thursday at the doctor in Sacramento, approximately an hour weat, was 110 and that beat the old record of 107 and I was gone from there by 1 pm and heading back up the hill. So everyone needs lots of water, hats and sunscreen. I would also be careful of snakes. This has been a bumper crop year. I always carry a pistol with snake shot and I don't wear shorts. Tall boots and Jeans. All the shooting areas are all dirt anyway but please be careful moving anything. Use a rake to keep some distance to move whatever/. In all the years I have been dirt bike riding and shooting up there, I never saw a rattle snake once. I just don't want anyone getting hurt needlessly like yours truly.

If your still going, do you have a Pay Pal account that I can send you the $40.00 donation. That is if you want to be responsible for the refreshments? If not, that's fine, I understand. It's hard to please everybody no matter what. The biggest deal in the heat is to drink lot's of water, not soda which just males you thirstier anyways. On the way back down, right across the street from the Market is Pizza Factory and they make good pizza and have a number of beers on tap as well as specialty ones in bottles. They also have salads and sandwiches. If you keep going west on Pleasant Valley Rd coming back after the market a short way is a Bar called Bones. They have one of the best burgers I have ever had. It's like $10 bucks but is delicious. They have all kinds of drinks for those that want beer or hard liquor. Tell everyone to be moderates about drinking here though. I am not exaggerating a bit. If anyone gets hammered, they better not be driving or they will end up in jail.

There is a saying here "Come to Placerville on Vacation, leave on Probation." There are a ton of Sheriff Deputies on duty Friday through Sunday Night and the two time I have been to Bones, we sat outside. We watched many Sheriff's car going back and forth. It is a Biker Bar but everyone gets along, no issues at all. It's the Sheriff's fishing for people drunk and driving, Witch after 24 Surgeries and months in hospitals and years in bed, I am glad they are watching out for innocent people. I was maimed but many are killed. So please be careful. Check peoples phones and see if anyone has a signal when you guys first get there. I have AT&T and I have a good signal there. Just in case you need to call 911. To get to the nearest hospital, Go straight back down Sly Park Road which turns into Pleasant Valley RD at the market. Keep going on that road west and you'll hit a stop sign, go straight through it and after that a short ways is Cedar Ravine rd on your right. Follow that down to the north about 10 minutes and it's on your, right. You'll see signs will start popping up for Marshall Hospital.

There is a Fire Station a mile maybe on your right coming back down Sly Park/Pleasant Valley West after the market. I would go there if it even if you just need to meet them along the way. They don't answer the phone on the weekend you can call 911 and tell them your headed back their way in whatever color and Type of Vehicle. I have done this unfortunately before and flashed my lights and honked to get their attention. Again, God forbid you should need any emergency services but I want you to be prepared just in case.

Thanks again for the kindness Brother!!

FP's offer was very kind, and if there's anything I can do feel free to reach out to me too. I went through a divorce 3 years ago, and my best advice is to try to stay friendly with her as much as you can, no matter how much you don't want to. It makes your life infinitely better and easier if you aren't mortal enemies. And believe me, I know how hard it can be to not raise hell.

As crazy as it sounds, and as much as I hated her while going through the divorce, we're actually pretty good friends now. I know that's not possible for everyone, but if you can manage to pull it off then it really takes a ton of stress off your shoulders.

By the way, I just wanted to point out that this is potentially the last weekend for anyone with larger-than-10-capacity magazines to enjoy them in California before you have to permanently reduce them to 10rds.

Thank you and that is my goal to be friends. I have enough grief in my life with my health situation and dont need any more problems that is great advice. I love your photo's at the bottom of your account. Very cool and the no gun sign tells it like it is. I wish our Government had a thread of common sense. Our Government has become communist and we need to get rid of them. They are destroying this State.

Ok it looks like I'm in, I'll be there by about 10 or 10:15. I'll be in a black Audi sedan. Could only find 2 black trash bags at home, so hopefully someone else has spares. Also bringing a tarp and folding table, and a few guns to do a little plinking up there.

Do we have a final headcount? Reading through this thread again, it looks like 3 yes's including myself, and about 6 maybe's.

If any body is checking this in the morning, count one more in. I'll be in a bright red Tacoma, (with a trailer if I wake up early enough to empty it).

Hey bud, Are you coming up Pleasant Valley Road? If you want to, I can meet you out at the corner of my street and Pleasant valley road and give you the $40 and you could get ice and drinks at Holiday Market?

Thanks,

Harold

I was up there cleaning and shooting yesterday. Most of the big stuff is gone like mattresses and big screen tv's. Mainly cardboard ammo boxes, aluminum cans and broken down smaller targets and shotgun hulls everywhere. But their are still a few big items. I couldn't fit the mattress I saw on my rig so I left it.

Skip Dog, Hooligan, and I made it out today for a great cleanup and shooting day. The morning started out a bit confusing, I met Skip Dog at the market, but after waiting a while for others we decided to head out by ourselves. Problem was, neither of us had been there and the directions to the shooting area either never really got posted here, or got buried somewhere that both of us missed. The GPS coordinates ended up being for the market, not the shooting area. And the road names listed in the thread were all like an hour away from there according to our phones. So, we headed out the direction we *thought* we had to go, to look for something that appears to be a shooting area.

Long story short, we managed to spot Hooligan who was waiting by a trailhead, and the 3 of us went out to a shooting area. We're pretty sure it wasn't THE shooting area, but it was A shooting area so we figured what the hell

Spent an hour or two cleaning up the area we stopped at, didn't grab a before photo (it wasn't THAT messy though), but by the time we were done it was pretty spotless.

After range cleanup, we got down to business with some rifle and pistol fun, sending lead downrange 'til we were pretty much all tired of shooting.

Great time, wish more of you guys could have made it but I'm looking forward to the next one!

Special thanks to Skip Dog for all the help and helping find our way to a range, and Hooligan for bringing a trailer, helping cleanup, and hauling all the trash out for us, and also finally directing us to a range since he was the only one of us somewhat familiar with the area. Great meeting you guys!

Was there a berm and than a ditch right before where your tables where set up? Dirt road directly next to the berm?

If so I know right where you guys were.

We were on Snow Mill Road. Went down Bonetti a ways and there were people at each "spot", and I wasn't sure which spot was originally planned for clean up. So we went over to Snow Mill, unfortunately it is usually pretty trashy.

No worries on dump fees, I'll put in my weekly bin. Just might take a few weeks :-)

Was nice meeting you both, I'm sure I'll see you on the range!

Thank you Skip Dog, Hooligan and cockedandglocked. I have been following this thread and was disappointed that I would be out of town. I have a sincere interest in the preservation of our public lands and the access to enjoy shooting sports.

I have participated in a number of Calguns organized clean-ups in the past and hope to attend a future effort in the area. Please keep me in mind or PM me anytime you are headed back to the area, as every trip for me is also an opportunity to leave a shooting spot in better condition then when I arrived.

Your efforts are appreciated.

Thank you guys for doing a wonderful job. I am so sorry to have not been able to go but after this week, I should be cleared by the Doctor to go back outdoors and we can schedule another one and I willl just take you directly to the area. It is piled high with garbage. It sounds like you all had some fun shooting though and that's great.

If we could find a way to get everyone to clean up their own mess before they leave, that would be great. I doub't there members on Cal Gun's though to leave such a mess. Where I was trying to tell you about, you must have missed the coordinates in the thread but I find it hard to find things I am looking for the way these threads go as well.

The area had so much trash, you had to walk way around to get back and forth to change targets. You would trip in it is how bad it was and I only have half a left leg and a brace, so I had to walk around it all.

Weekends are hard as there are usually a lot of people out on the road I am talking about. It is the first road on your right after you go past Sly Park Lake, the Equestrian Center/Hikers/Bikers area on the right over two bridges and the next road after the small parking lot with big billboard type sign of the Forest. Area.

Thanks again to Hooligan, Skip-Dog and Cocked and Glocked for cleaning up by yourselves. I apologize to all that agreed to come to the clean up for having to bail at the last moment. I am so sick and don't recommend heat exhaustion to anyone especially us older people. Anyways, my deepest regrets.

No worries, thank you for putting the cleanup together anyways even if you couldn't make it. The area you're talking about sounds like a disaster zone, hopefully in the near future we can get another cleanup together. Today would have been a great day, temps in the high 70's/low 80's!

My Pleasure! I actually have tried this through a few Facebook Groups and never got a reply. I signed up for CalGuns, and got a few replies but unfortunately only 3 of you where able to come. Believe me and I am not exaggerating, disaster puts it kindly. It is a literal dump and I can't believe people believe it is ok to just leave their garbage like that.

Yes, Today, would have been a perfect day. Not only because of the temperature but because there isn't many people out there so accessing all the worst areas are easy. I have politely went up to shooters and informed them I was out cleaning up and have asked if they would mind going to the next spot down and many have just told me they would clean up as much as they had room for in their vehicles or asked me if I had trash bags. I give them some and on my way out I check. They haven't left it as nice as you all did the spot you cleaned up but so much nicer than what it was.

I go to Costco and get the contractor sized bags fairly inexpensive and take them to the dump in Diamond Springs. I am going to go down there after I am cleared and my numbers are all good again and see if they will allow us to dump for free when I notify Management of Forest Cleanups. I don't make a lot, so every little bit helps. A lot of people are in the same boat even though the Fake News post how great our economy is. Especially not in California after the Gas Tax, DMV Fees increase etc. It is a trickle down effect because everything we consume come by diesel. Truck, Train, and Ship. All the food and everything else I have shopped for has already increased. The Enviroterrorists have convinced our California Government that farms produce more pollution than factories. So, California is trying to put farms out of business across the State.

Need Proof? Go to your grocery store and pick up any produce and try to find one that doesn't say from Mexico, South America and even China. Not even the Avocado or Tomatoes were from America. That was in my local Safeway.

It just keeps getting worse. Those countries don't have the pesticide laws and protections we do in America and what better way to get rid of your enemy but by slowly poisoning them? So, here in our area we have Farmer's Markets and I am going to get my produce from there. It isn't convenient but it tastes better and is local. I encourage all to boycott Non American Goods and food. I refuse to support those that are sworn enemies and that would kill us any chance they had. I really don't get why we, As a Nation are enriching our enemies to the point that they, China is ready to overtake us monetarily as they own the Majority of US Debt. They have caused Stock Market crashes here more than once threatening to call in or put up for Sale our debt. It is all insane to me.

Anyways, enough of my pet peeves. If your off during the week and would like to go shooting, PM me and Ill give you my number and we can go. I should be cleared on Thursday afternoon. My Doctor is checking some enzymes or something to make sure I didn't have Sun Stroke because I got it bad and have been so sick. I wish I could have made the cleanup and especially to avoid all the confusion for those of you that did show up. Thanks again to you and the others that came for what you did. That was awesome! I will take you to the area I am talking about and you can see for yourself. I am thinking now that it isn't Bonetti Road. We can stop on at that billboard Map right before the road/trail and see if it has a name on it. I have been going there so long, I really don't even pay attention to the road names anymore. Talk to you later and Thanks again!

I think the road about 100 feet or so after the trail information sign is the road you are referring too. That according to a forestry law enforcement lady is Bonetti. The road is not marked. I am more than willing to do more clean up in that area. The drive is nice from Lodi. I am very busy with work and I have a new baby on the way so I may not be able to make some clean ups. I will however buy a large amount of garbage bags to help out. Every time I head up to shoot I will pack out way more than I bring and pass bags out to local shooters encouraging them to do the same. Who knows if we hound them enough and let them know if it stays a mess they will close it, they may just pitch in. If everyone does a little every time and stops leaving stuff we can get it cleaned up. Wishful thinking maybe but we should try.

Good Morning Skip Dog!, Yep, that is the road I am referring too. I don't know how far I have driven down that road but quite a ways past the bridge over the river, if you guys went that far to see the river?

Thanks for your help in keeping our shooting areas cleaned up. I appreciate it.

Congratulations on the Baby! God blessed you and your wife with a bundle of joy! May your baby be born without complications of any kind, be completely healthy and be a Joy to you and your wife for all your days. I have helped to raise 4 of them. It isn't easy but if you start out right, agree together on parenting issues after the baby is older especially and never ever fight in front of your children. Let them see what a loving marriage looks like. I wish you both all the best. That is really awesome and a miracle produced by God and His love for us and your love for each other as husband and wife. May God richly bless you and your family!!!

Yes, grat idea to carry trash bags with you and there hasn't been one person yet who gave me a hard time, refused to move or cleaned it up themselves with the bags I gave them. It is hard as we can't be there 24/7 to make sure that people clean up after themselves but with more people getting involved, the people we talk to and give garbage bags too, we are affecting change a person or 2 at a time. I want that Forest to be open for my kids and grand kids and yours and everyone's.

I want to call the Forestry Service and tell them what we are doing and ask for their assistance. They know what a dump it is. It was a mistake when I did it about 20 years ago when they were on the right side of 50 in Camino. The "Ranger" I spoke with is a female and after I told her about the effort by a bunch of people to clean it up and educate people, I have no doubt it was her that went out and filmed it and it was running in the local paper and network news on every channel in a few days. Within a couple weeks, it was shown at the local government City Council meeting. Shortly after that, it was closed to all shooting and off roading. I filed a complaint from the Cityt Council all the way to Washington DC but it did no good and people would not get involved to stand up for their Rights even here locally. So, it was closed forever to shooting and off roading and paid for with Green Sticker money to provide a very nice area juust for horses, hikers and bicycles, unless enough people would get involved to take it back. But unless people stop leaving messes like that at Bonetti Road, it gives all Gun Owners a bad name.

So, that is why I haven't wanted to call the Forestry Office. The last time I went in to buy a wood cutting permit, the lady wasn't there, so I don't know if she was off or what. I asked for everyone else's opinion but nobody chimed in on how they felt about calling Forestry to police the area and maybe a citation or 2 is what it is going to take to get ppeople to stop littering. I hate for it to come to that but people need to be responsible.

Maybe we should get together and post a sign "Your Mommy doesn't work out here, So you'll have to clean up your own mess or don't play here !!"

Congratulations again on your new baby! Thanks again for making a difference in our Forest! PM me and I'll give you my number. Next time you come up, I'll try and meet up with you and go out together shooting and have some fun.
