I read all of Eduardo's posts and it appears the Whittington Center has two ranges capable of two miles. It appears Team Applied Ballistics shot on the second range and according to Eduardo that is okay.

I think the shooters withdrawing are the guys that are not able to practice on the alternate range. They most likely feel they are not on a level playing field with those able to practice there so why waste the vacation time barrel wear and expenses. If your on a team that can't visit the second range a few times before the match it's going to be an uphill battle.

About 2 mile military sniper shot kill of Isis soldier
in Iraq that is the latest news... By Paul Philips, from FB... In response to the latest amazing 2.1 mile Canadian Armed forces sniper shot in question, A lot of my friends have been asking if this is possible or not. If there are any doubters out there?! There will be many events in the USA where you can come watch 1-2 mile shots. Visit ELR Central, FB, for more Information. The science of accuracy and improvement of rifle components have made this possible. Below is a photo of a 17x22 inch consecutive 3 shot group @ 2.05 miles made with my 375 Lethal Mag. Bryan Litz on the trigger and Emil Praslick on the wind. In the other photo, these 3 impacts were made by fellow team mates Mitchell Fitzpatrick, Derek Rodgers and Bryan Litz. Emil Praslick and Paul Phillips on the wind. All three impacts were made with only 3 rounds each. So within 3 rounds for three shooters in a row we were able to make impacts on a 36 inch plate (1 moa) at 2 miles or 3613 yards. The purpose behind our research is to help improve technology and increase our hit % at extreme ranges. This will help save lives and bring our troops home safely. Semper - Fi !! Picture of Paul's Gun. Mitch also holding it with him. Mitch was last years 2 mile shoot winner and Mitch's shop built Paul's big gun..Ed ![]() |

Talked with one of the shooters who has shot there all three years.
Half of the shooters in attendance were beating there bolts open do to stiff loads. Mitch Fitzpatrick's spotters didn't know it was time to shoot so he had to rush his shots downrange to meet the 9 minute rule. Everyone got one shot at a 1600 yard gong before they went hot and only four shooters hit it. John Buhay put up $1000 to any shooter hitting the almost two miles target and winning the match. Kelly McMillan matched that offer so the winner walked off with $2000. The wind made you or broke you. Barrels without enough twist cost a bunch of shooters off guard. If you don't have enough twist you will get all kinds of vertical stringing as each bullet will have a different BC number. You need a oehler 88 or Oehler 42 to see this. I will contact Focus to see if a LabRadar will do this.

And you are right the LabRadar doesn't do it.
We would need two LabRadar about 200 yards apart to see if the bullets are not flying true.

I don't know if these velocity samples can be reliably converted to BC variance. The LabRadar's accuracy is ~1%. That's too close to the bullet's BC variance. Here's a plot of a 10 round string. ES 12 and SD of 3.7
V0 is muzzle velocity. The others are in yards. V55 is velocity at 55 yards. IMG_0052.jpg Cheers, Last edited by focus; 07-02-2017 at 9:34 PM.. |

Focus
If we have two chronographs spaced 200 yards apart both measuring the same bullet we should be able to tell if the bullets are making the transition. David Tubb is using an Oehler 88 and the variation between a bullet flying true and one with alot of pitch is very dramatic.

Here's shots 5, 6, & 7. I wonder what happened to shot 6?
I did get a couple vertical flyers during this string. But, I thought it was the 4-9 mph head wind. IMG_0061.jpg Cheers, |

Focus
If we set up one LabRadar at the rifle and two at the target spaced 200 yards apart a unstable bullet with alot of pitch will show alot less velocity due to the extra drag. If the vertical was seen while going supersonic it was most likely the headwind/tailwind and not a bullet losing stability. When Sierra had the trouble with the 168 going unstable at 1000 yards what most shooters didn't understand was it was designed as a 300 meter international bullet and not intended for slower velocity downrange. Have you read about the comments on Team Applied Ballistics on FaceBook yet? It seems many think there was some bad JuJu going on. Glad it wasn't me.

You would think AB would play by the rules since they are in the spotlight.
Getting the Target info the day before and other assorted things Lots of ways to make new friends, but this is not one of them. Might throw my AB books in the trash Last edited by Hoffer; 07-03-2017 at 10:16 AM.. |

Now they placed themselves in the spotlight And all captured by a fan on video 😂 Hope it will be somewhat different in Tonopah if they shoot that match . . . Anyway it will not take the fun for us away Actually the should split it in 2 categories : 1. Team / sponsored shooters 2. Private shooters Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk

There are a thousand naive shooters out there for every shooter who actually knows what is happening. Most will only read the end results and will never read the posts on the Facebook pages by the other shooters in attendance. Once prizes are added to the equation everything changes every time from my experience.

Idol worshiping is not my thing. I've seen favoritism from both sides. When I ran at the Bonneville salt flats there was one organization that was very political. They would and do suck up to anyone they liked or was "famous". Rules were bent and ignored by officials. Even money was "donated" to change a rule. They tried to give us preferential treatment and I wanted nothing to do with it. It was kind of disgusting to see it in real life. I do things for self pride, not for others to think I'm cool. |

I have never been past 130 mph and you went 388 mph if I read the records list correctly? Quite the accomplishment in my book. Congrats!!!!! KingAir Any time prizes are involved the truth comes out. Most shooters sit back and don't say much. I am usually the exception to the rule. When prizes are added shooters always speak up because now they feel they are being cheated out of a material item If you read the Facebook reports from those actually in attendance it is obvious some felt others where given preferential treatment. I wasn't there but in talking with someone who was this isn't the first time this has happened. The best cure is to show up follow the rules and beat them.
