Another great day to get out and shoot. Service Rifles with optics are now allowed, and members brought some test platforms to the line. If you've got a carbine with a scope (max is 4.5 power), make plans to bring it out to next month's match.

We had 17 shooters come out for the match and saw a mix of rifles with most shooters using California Legal AR-15's. This was an NRA approved match and awards were given to each of the class winners. Dave O won the Master Class with a 771-10X, Brian M was Match Winner as well winner of Expert Class. In the combined Sharpshooter and Marksman Class, Peter A won with a 707-7X. Winners got a choice of club Nosler hats or T-shirts.

This was an Across The Course (XTC) match with shooters using reduced sized targets to simulate the 200, 300, and 600 yard distances. Mark B shot a 200-9X for the Slow Prone stage. That's 20 shots into the X and 10 rings which is about 1.75 inches in diameter. Nelson G. shot a 197-10X. Both Nelson and Mark were using scoped service rifles. Joe R, using iron sights, turned in a 194-3X in the same stage.

Matches are held on the third Sunday of the month. Cost for members is only $12 while non-members cost is $17. Shooters can practice after the match as well. Contact secretary@goldenbears.org if you'd like to come out to a future match.
