Default Ammo makers dropping 10mm from manufacturing soon ?

A clerk working in the H&H Gun Store, Jefferson City, Tennessee told me this morning when I asked if had 10mm in stock no stock on hand and that all of the ammo makers in USA are closing out making 40 cal and 10mm in their plants, the announcement came out recently.

Any clue from ya'll calgunners as to this is for real or a rumor ? If true I will have to go on a 10mm search and stash crusade for the S&W 10mm I just bought last week.

If they don't produce authentic documents substantiating their position, it is nothing but rumor.

Just as we've heard for decades that Glock is discontinuing "X" model at the end of the year. All smoke.

they made too many 10mm to ever stop making ammo, it may get a little harder to find, but they will make it.

If you are even a little worried, learn to reload and never worry again.

You're an adult. Think about the logic of the highlighted portions. There's a bunch of ammo makers, all of them in the US got together and decided to cut production of a cartridge in which there are still new production guns being mfg and sold, such as the one you bought last week? And they made a single announcement? Where is this single announcement? Besides the anti-trust legal issues of such an action.

Think of all the random uncommon calibers, 9x18, 7.62x25, etc. They're still in production.

A more accurate statement could be that mfg are focusing production to higher volume stuff like 5.56 or 9mm, but that's always been the case and really that news is 3 years old. Many mfg work in batches. They keep the high volume production line going all the time, but on a separate line they'll they'll run stuff in batches. A month of 6.5, then a month of 6.8, then .300WM, etc. That's why availability on some uncommon stuff is very low everywhere, then suddenly a bunch of places have it in stock again.

I am a adult, that is why I put this out to the Bros on Calguns. I wasn't sure of the guy at the LGS info, rumor or attitude. I am 79 and not about to start reloading a pistol cartridge now. Thanks all of you !

Take what you hear at your LGS with a grain of salt. We hear FUD stories all the time that originate from gun store employees.

It seems almost all Calgunners want or already own 10mm. I don't get it, but read all of the threads that talk about upcoming handguns and you'll just see dozens of "Won't buy it unless they have it in 10mm.", "Wish they made it in 10mm", etc.

If Calgunners are a small sample of American gunners in general, it seems that making more brands and types of 10mm ammo would be a smart business move, not cutting 10mm ammo production.

10mm is as popular as ever so I don’t see it going away. I just saw a bunch on the shelves of Sportsman’s Supply yesterday, though I wouldn’t want to pay current prices. I’m just glad this is something I reload.

I shoot both 10mm & 41 mag.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I was told that
The 41 was dead.

Fud indeed.

Take care

I wonder if the Feds will have to buy 10mm from overseas? Yea, the minimum wage salesman at the gun store is a complete idiot. Sure, all US manufactures may not be tooled up for 10mm right now but, that doesn't mean they won't be soon. I do not know of a single manufacturer who can leave their equipment tooled up for every cartridge they load for. It just doesn't happen and never will happen.

OP, it never hurts to ask, even if you hear it from a counter guy. Your not only looking out for yourself but for others. As you now know, the 10mm is just too popular for the OP to be true. The counter guy might have heard that one or more of the manufacturers were rotating 10mm out for other calibers and will come back soon. (Probably missed the last part)

It's too bad some people here don't have any manners or respect.

I've found 10mm reloading components real easy to find in the last 6 months so I stocked up.

It never hurts to ask and post like this can keep us on our toes.

more gunstore fud i do not know why people put so much stock in what they hear from gun store employees

there are many calibers that gun stores don't stock since its not in demand

it is extremely annoying that we cant personally order ammo anymore

You heard it at a gun store. That should be your first clue that it's BS.

Come to think of it, it was buying my Delta Elite back in ‘89 that started me with reloading.
