Long story short- A friend opened a spam can and now I found myself with hundreds of paper wrapped cartridges on stripper clips. I know it's steel core, but I have no idea what it's worth to sell or trade. I understand it's rare given the import ban and its composition.
I am not interested in keeping it. I can provide headstamp or the Chinese script on the cardboard packer if it's relevant. Thank you for any info- |

7.62x39 as ammo is not rare. Banned Chinese imported ammo is rare only because you cannot easily buy it cheaply anymore. Websites will show you whether the ammo you have is corrosive or not by the headstamp.
It's like a run of the mill 91/30 rifle. They were dirt cheap and plentiful. They are still plentiful in the world but not cheap anymore because they can no longer flood the US market. The rifle still has value as a fun range toy. As for the ammo: ![]() Just shoot it and make sure you clean your gun. |

Most ranges won’t let you shoot steel core at their targets.
Honestly, it’s worth what someone is willing to pay/trade. I’d say start at around 40c/ea if you really want to entice someone, drop that to under 30c/ea. |

I would save it for shtf. The Chinese steel core does have a pretty tough steel core. If I would have known, then what I do now I would have bought more of it and saved some of it.

As Corbin Dallas mentioned, most ranges don't allow it and I believe it's no bueno for BLM target areas. However, Burro Canyon used to allow it only if it's raining or right after. But on their new website it's not allowed due to fire restrictions. Probably call them if your interested.
