Here are a couple more treasures that I am trying to re-home. Again...just looking for a fair price to ask. I would prefer to NOT put them on gunbroker.
First is a Savage 1899 in 250-3000 and is a take down model. And YES!!! It takes down. A lot of the ones I see listed are rusted or do not "take down". This one is VERY clean. Only known issue is the forend is cracked at the front. Took it to a smith who said he did not believe it would get worse and to leave it alone. It has always been that way since its been in my family and that has been over 60 years so.... Serial number says it was made in 1915. Was detailed stripped and clean by above smith. Bore was scoped and it nice and shiny. Next is a pre-64 Winchester model 70 in 30-06. This one is in "strange condition". Meaning it is in pretty good shape, but it looks like someone stripped the bluing and maybe tried to color case finish it? The stock has been cut and a recoil pad installed. And it has a vintage Bushnell fixed 4X scope. Bore is shiny and other than the weird finish, it is a nice rifle that has been used...stock has some dings, etc. Serial number dates it at 1954. So...what say ye on fair values? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I've got a pre64 (1942 iirc) Mod 70 and I think the blueing is about the same as yours. Kinda patchy and light in areas. Mine was originally a .257 Roberts but then rechambered to Weatherby. I'm interested to see what people will put the value at on yours.

I’m interested in hearing about what folks say as well. It is very strange. Maybe it’s just age and poor bluing.

I'm guessing a pre-64 M70 in decent trim would be in the $1,000 ball park, so one that has been subject to "patina" would be somewhere below that. Also - kids these days consider 30-06 obsolete, so you'd be looking for an older guy to buy. Collectors would be out, because of condition.
$700 - $800 maybe?

According to the extensive article I use to identify 99s it appears your .250 is a Model G. It was one of the seven new models introduced in 1920 that replaced some earlier ones. the Model G, called a “Deluxe” here, is the first described as a take-down rifle having a capped pistol grip and checkered stock and forend. Barrel length being 22” in .250-3000 and 24” in the .300. the model made in 1920-1941. If your barrel is 22” this might be it. it has identical lines as the later super popular non take down Model EG, which is what I have in .300 and 24” barrel. a rifle that just feels perfect.

A couple years ago I inherited a 250-3000 takedown from my Uncle. I loved that gun but one of my Uncle's good friends asked me about it. He had been a really good friend to my Uncle and had helped him out a lot. I ended up giving it to him. I figured my Uncle would like that. Still would love to keep the gun. I hunted with a 99 308 when I was a kid and have a 99 300. I have no idea of the value.
Those are both nice guns. I have a 1958 Model 70 30-06 featherweight that was my Dad's too. Dad killed a ton of bucks with it. |

Appreciate the offer but just looking to sell it and not interested in putting any money into it unless it was not very expensive.

I think we have to go to Gunbroker to get maximum dollars and a quick sale.
99 aficionados especially really seem to like the auction sites. I know it’s a hassle shipping and dealing on Gunjoker and don’t wanna do it either with the 99 I have for sale. That 250-3000 I’d think would pull over 1K on Gunjoker.
