Below are pic's of my Czech vz.24. It's a very rare rifle, and the subject of a bit conjecture by Mauser experts.
I got it in December of 2002 from one of my good "sources". He was a guy who I referred to as "the old man". I met him while working for Gunslinger auctions. He liked me and would bring in rifles for me to buy from him. He was a WWII Air Force Officer. According to him it was from the Brno factory, and brought back by him after WWII. I paid $400 for it back then. Based on it's serial number it was made in 1936, it bears no Czech Army acceptance marks. So it wasn't made for the Czech military. The "three line" crest is unusual for a rifle made in 1936, as use of that crest was discontinued years before this rifle was made. Rifles made in 1936 should have the "Rampant Czech lion" crest. One expert believes this rifle was one of 30,000 made for Ecuador and may have been given as a gift to some high ranking US Govt. Official or US military Attaché. None of these Ecuadorian vz-24 have been imported into the US, and their status is unknown, as is how they were exactly marked. It's a interesting hypothesis, but doesn't jibe with the story I was told. Unfortunately we will never know the exact story, as it's long lost to history. But the rifle is so remarkable as it is in what could be described as "factory new" condition. It's all matching, but has been fired as there is a ever so slight primer pocket ring on the bolt face. The white highlighting seen in the markings was present when I received the rifle. The "old man" said it was present when he received it while in Europe at the end of WWII. It's just a beautiful rifle and a time capsule showing the quality put forth by the craftsmen at Brno. I haven't taken the action out of the stock, as I don't want to mar any of the screw heads, or possibly scratch the stock. It get oiled and handled at least once a year, or when some collector or author wants to handle it. It's been valued at over $5,000.00 but I'll never sell it. This is my 12,000th post on Calguns so I thought I would make it a memorable one and share this rifle. The pic's are a bit old, and I have plans to take some up dated higher resolution pic's soon. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That is a real nice rifle. I have 3 of them, one I got at Big 5 in the 90s and 2 Russian refurbs I got from AIM many moons ago. The one I got from Big 5 has been my hunting rifle for 15 years, iron sights and all. It takes them down right where they stand.

That's an incredible specimen SVT. As a descendant of Czechoslovaks, the VZ24 has always had a special place in my heart. The examples I own are quite ragged, but I like them for that could only wish to hear the stories they want to tell.

That's a fine weapon.
I had a Turk stamped vz 24 Bruno. It was a mismarked, kinda rough, pre-2014 yard sale score, $50 bucks. I traded it off to a fella in Arizona for a Mosin M44. He had other Mausers and said it shot great. PAX

I already have some of those... Unissued Persian rifles, both long and short are pretty common. Many thousand imported. But this is the only Vz.24 in this condition known to exist outside of any museum... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Gorgeous.
I marvel at the fit and finish of most of the old Mausers and others. Knowing the tools they had to work with compared to today, just wow. Of course arms had high priority. Craftsmen made that rifle. So beautiful, a true treasure.
