Default Is this a model 92 or 94 Winchester? Old lever gun. Value?

Like the title says...trying to figure out what model this old Winchester 25-20 is.

Yes...it needs a new home. But have no idea on what it is worth...and I mean actually selling it worth not if you put it on gunbroker and wait 6 months worth.

Happy New Year!

1892.

Lyman #1A tang sight with the cool flip-down peep.
Sight is worth about $100.

With all the external wear, pitting and rust stains it is most likely a shooter only.
How is the bore?

Custom order features like the half round barrel and the shortened magazine tube, so it has that going for it. Bore condition on 25-20s are typically pretty roached...... what does the bore look like on this one? Hard to give valuation based on the pics provided but somewhere between 1,000 and 1,400 maybe? We need to see close-ups of the wood fitment, the screw heads, and know the condition of the bore. Serial number would be helpful as well to establish when it was manufactured.

I'm going to slightly disagree with you here, that site is worth more like $150 - $200.

Bore is nice. Pics make the pitting look much worse than it is.

Looked up the serial number and it was made in 1908.

And I has sold it to a member here so thank you for the input.

Happy New Year

Wow you got me there, the last 1892 version sold on ebay went for $251.20.

Yup, 25-20 bores are often really rough which is why I asked.

If the new owner wants to disclose that I will leave it to them.

Looks like a 92 "Short Rifle", with a shotgun butt and button mag. An actual Win model. The distance between the sights is one of the telltales.

Unfortunately finding ammo for it will not be easy. 25-20 is pretty scarce and very expensive when you do.

I've got several 25-20s, all somehow with excellent bores. I've come to love that little cartridge but I only have a couple hundred rounds and don't shoot it often because ammo is so hard to find. :/

Yeah, you pretty much have to reload for them...
And just the brass is an adventure to find.

Right on about the special features on the 92. My .44-40 letters with take down, rear and tang sights, pistol grip, round barrel, and a shotgun butt just like this one. So the sights and butt on it might be custom, too.
Value? Beats me on this one. the Savage 1899 was easier to speculate on.

I"ve been trying to add a positive 100% to BigBamBoo on the iTrader site. For some reason it keeps saying the url is wrong. I can only say - thanks for the rifle-exactly as described with a great history.
