Except for ordering suppressors, returning my ARs to OEM specs. and ordering some ammunition for home delivery, I really haven't anything bought anything firearms related since moving to Kentucky.
I already had OEM magazines for most of my guns and the few handguns that have 10 or less round capacity magazines (sub compacts, etc.) don't benefit from or don't have higher capacity magazines available. The only things that I am looking for are some older, off (CA) roster handguns that are just hard to find anywhere. (Old S&W revolvers, etc) Do many of you guys on here find that you really don't immediately go out and buy a bunch of new stuff after leaving Cali.?

I was the opposite. I went on a shopping spree since moving to KY. Suppressors, PCC's, Form 1 SBR, other non CA pistols, FRT, binary. And surprisingly got my first bolt action, in .243 since moving out here, a Remington 700.
I was always a gun person, but the real big change was that I got into archery and deer hunting. Also got into waterfowl hunting as of last weekend. It's been great. |

I think after living in CA for so long I accumulated all my dream handguns. Now that I’m in TX, my purchasing has slowed down quite a bit. I’ve only gotten a suppressor and a Walther PDP-F. But otherwise, I haven’t been motivated to buy much else.

I haven’t bought anything because I don’t need a suppressor and can’t afford anything else
Spent on snowblower, high property tax, and home/cars/wife and kids maintenance My AK, etc are all as configured when purchased in Pomona in the 80s They were never neutered Last edited by Dan_Eastvale; 01-07-2023 at 10:14 AM.. |

I moved to TX 5 years ago, and in the first year, I only purchased a Mossberg Shockwave and a G43 for concealed carry. Wasn't in a real hurry to get anything else. But eventually I figured a move was not going to hamper my bucket list of guns, so of course I eventually started to buy what I really wanted (a novelty notion), and also eventually started to thin out the CA guns I no longer wanted (3rd gen Glocks), and diving into the world of PCCs (Scorpion, SP5), suppressors, single action revolvers, and 2011s. Purchasing just became easier, cheaper, and everything was available.
Same with ammo- it is just nice to order online, pay for it with a CC, and have it dropped at your doorstep. But also time is marching on, my tastes change, I retired a couple of months ago. I plan to thin the herd even more, getting rid of some older Sigs out of that collection, S&Ws, Rugers, etc.stuff I bought years ago in CA. And it is easier, since PPTs are non FFL face to face. I have reached the end of my bucket list. But for you, it's only been 5 months. Give it time ![]()

When first moved got some new guns started sbr and suppressor paperwork stuff
After about a year and half just buying ammo occasionally. No desire for new guns. Spent money on classes and range time instead. Public land being close allows easy range time too which is awesome. |

I guess since I'm a bolt rifle guy that there wasn't really anything restricting my purchases in Cali. I have a bunch of left handed bolt guns.
After having a couple AR15s and an AR10, I really didn't need or want any other semi's and I've shot enough full auto in the military that I have no desire for any of those. Pistols are tools to me so a half a dozen of those are all I need except that I'd like to get a few more old S&W revolvers.

The second I got to AZ I bought a Walther Q5 Match SF as I've wanted one since I first ever saw it.
Since then it's just been a few random handguns and lowers and mk18 etc Then the suppressor bug bit. Surefire RC2, followed by a rimfire can, handgun cans etc

Built my SBR and bought a slew of Gen 5 Glocks.
In the pipeline I'm going to cut down a Marlin .44 just for fun, still deciding on what .22 I want to suppress, deciding what suppressor for the SBR and SPR, and a 9mm SBR (Thinking the PSA AKV9).

I would really want a suppressor for my Glock 21s. Got the threaded barrel ready.
I recently bought some air gun suppressed devices, because why ?, because I still can. Shout out To “Silent Thunder Ordinance”. . Last edited by Maltese Falcon; 01-08-2023 at 1:54 AM.. |

I am going to buy a thermal scope since it's legal to hunt coyotes and varmints with them here and not in Cali.

Same here OP. In the year I lived in Nevada, I reconfigured my AR to normal and bought some normal Magpul magazines. As for new additions, most were C&R rifles/shotguns/handguns with about 6 new ones being "non CA rooster". Walther PDP, Beretta APX and 92A1, Sig P320, P365 and M18.

When I first left Commiefornia and moved to Reno back in 2014 I went on a buying spree and picked up a couple dozen guns of various flavors in the first few months. I bought nearly every vintage S&W and Colt I could find along with a few AK's, a couple SBR's and a suppressor until I had mostly satisfied my pent up demand for new iron.
Nine years later, I find that I don't buy nearly as much as I used to. Last year I only got a couple rifles, a MP5 clone, one suppressor and a half dozen Sigs.

When I moved out of Cal 5 years ago, I stocked up on ammo, but didn't go on a gun buying spree. In the first year I did pick up a Marlin 336 (good price at a gun show)and a Winchester 94 (great price at a garage sale), but that was it.

Being out of CA now for 5 months I have bought 7 new guns and 2 suppressors, with another purchase planned for this weekend. I did sell about half my CA collection including all of my off roster stuff in preparation to moving. No regrets on selling besides my HK USP, really wish I would of kept that but hard to say no when your offered 2x what you paid for it.
Without any limitations I feel like making a decision on what to buy has become more difficult (believe it or not). Before, I would swoop up any good off roster deal I would come across. Now with the ability to buy anything at MSRP or under, I really got to think about it. I'll admit the roster kept me closed minded to how many different guns are available in free America. the LV shooting happened shortly after we moved to NV Left all my magazines behind for others to find. Bought all new magazines Sold a life insurance policy and bought a plethora of machine guns, SBR's, and suppressors. Was loving armslist before they changed their policies and meeting up with people to sell and buy guns in parking lots. I already had a substantial collection but it was like it was all new all over again. Going in my backyard and shooting MG's with friends and family is a hoot. Everyone has a great time. I have slowed down but have kept my eyes open for certain deals on MG's that I am still trying to add to the collection. Still would like to buy a few more suppressors too, but haven't taken the time to shop.

Escaped Chico, Kalifornia in 2015 with my wife for DFW, Texas. Followed two of our grown kids who started careers here. Had my FFL (H&K Enterprises) in Chico for almost 20 years. Moving here was like coming up for air, just knowing I could buy whatever I wanted and walk out the same day. And veteran's discounts are EVERYWHERE.
My first purchase was a 1911. I already had more than one, but they are all standard A1 configuration, and in my wrinkly old age I get hammer bite unless I wear a glove. So, I bought an SA Range Officer. Love the beavertail grip safety. Also wanted to build another AR with some of the latest go fast stuff, so bought an Aero Precision stripped lower and complete flattop upper for something like $115 and change. So after I got my work bench built, I built the AR. You can see both here-- https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/...0&postcount=10 Yeah, when the ejection port opens, it reads "PLAN B". Since then, I have just been watching for ammo sales online that I can combine with free shipping, to add to my stash. Most of what I shoot I handload. Am going to have to break down one of these days and go in search of large rifle primers. A buddy of mine (also from Chico) moved back to Texas where he grew up down around Hillsboro. He built himself a range out to 1000 yards. You can see it here. We are at the 200 yard line-- https://lonestarparson.blogspot.com/2020/10/shoot.html You can also see it with Google Earth. |
