Default What’s going on with Sunnyvale rod and gun club?

So it seems since the lockdown Sunnyvale is moving it’s range more and more to membership only, I see only open to public Saturday. How are the words? I have sort of avoided it worried it’s likely long wait on the rifle range.

Are they being more open to membership? I like the move Richmond did adding the associate membership (which I joined right away) and hopeful Sunnyvale will do the same. But sucks if they just want to keep it to a small group of members, does nothing to help build the gun community in the city

This! They are one of the clever ones to attract customers with the 40-yard "tin can" range and you can also place tin cans at a few spots on the 100 yard side, manual sporting clays is another great clever idea they have there.

Just speculating here, but even pre covid, there was complaints by the members that it was hard for even them to get lanes during public hours...wouldn't surprise me if members decided to reduce public hours. I'm not a member but used to shoot there frequently and overheard a group talking about that

Yah, and go use Los Altos rod and gun, they never saw the huge new shooter swell like the other ranges did, my guess is because they're a bit out there.

I've been going regularly to Los Altos Rod & Gun. Haven't been to Sunnyvale Rod & Gun in a few years, been wanting to go to since I miss shooting steel targets.

Los Altos is great though, we usually make it an all-day trip and start off with shooting clays, then rifle, and then pistol range.

Default SUNNYVALE GC

I am a range master at Sunnyvale Rod and Gun Club on Stevens Canyon Rd

We never turn away shooters. Yes, currently only open Sat 0900 -1500, but that may change soon. Rifle and pistol, trap, 5-stand. Rain or shine.
