I had no idea this was a subforum.
I was born in L.A. and I've lived in CA for 30 of my 40 years on this planet. I became politically active in college, and it was a dream of mine to emigrate to America, where I could keep more of the money I earned, afford a nice home, and live in a place where 2A rights are respected. It's taken 20 years, but I got a job offer in TX in December of 2022 and moved right away. L.A. will always have a place in my heart, but I weep for this once great state.

Congrats on the new job and new found freedoms of 2A!

It's like the first time you get a lung full of fresh mountain air and then those chains of oppression that get lifted off your shoulders is the next relief you'll feel.

Congratulations and good luck on your move! You will be surprised how your attitude or perspective of CA will change after you move.

Yes! I have to resist the urge to tell those in cars with CA plates to go back to CA, even though I understand they may be escapees, like myself!

Interesting. Shortly after moving to ID I start hearing about people wanting to remove dams so salmon may or may not return to the cost of $32B and they would replace the hydropower with a more efficient cleaner alternative energy and the grain barges would get transported some other better way. They couldn't say what this new power source was, but it will be more efficient and less expensive. Our electric bill is so cheap now I can't believe it.

Someone finally got some strong coffee into these woke dam mashers. Even Jay Inslee (gov of Washington, where the four dams are) finally realized that solar panels and wind turbines cannot replace the fixed electrical energy provided by hydropower. The enthusiasm for this project appears to be fading. |
