Default Full length pic top rail on a handguard

I have an older ALG rail that only has picatinny on top of either end of the rail and mlok everywhere else. It is lite and funtional. Now I fully understand the cheese grater on short M4s with lasers and lights and the tactical kitchen sink, but all the pictures I see of rails have an optic on the receiver and a front sight on the front. So why is everyone making a full length picatinny top rail and is there anyone that isn't? I am looking for a 12" to 13" for a 14.5.
Any ideas?

Full length pic rail on top has always been the norm, its not new. What is new is partial or no pic rail on top.

I prefer a full length pic rail on top. Its great for mounting a pressure switch for a weapon light. Pressure switches take a lot of space. Also who the heck wants to spend money adding extra mlok pic rails when you can just get a handguard with the rail on it already? Full length pic rail on top just makes sense.

Aeroprecision makes a few handguards that have the pic on just the forward few inches.

My quad rail carbine length gets all the goodies but on anything over that I just don't need all that rail to mount stuff so figured I'd save some weight and money. Other than a front sight I don't like mounting weight so far forward. Thanks for the info on Aero and PSA. I also found CMT has one but it is too long for me.
