1" scope mount for rimfire.. DNZ still GTG?

So I finally have a Leupold FX-I 4x28 rimfire scope on the way to mount on a Savage Rascal Target. I would like to upgrade to a better 1" mount for the scope.. probably a one piece. Is DNZ still a good go-to manufacturer? I'm thinking a Freedom Reaper Picatinny in medium height; but I just want to get maybe a few more opinions before I spend $140 on a mount when there could be a better option for me out there. My other thought was just leupold rings in medium... I'm not looking to spend a fortune but I would rather buy one mount and be done than pay $20 for a mount and replace it in a few months.

Whatever you choose, get a lapping kit.

I have many .22s and .17 HMRs, some have old rings from the 40s with two slotted screws holding them in. I have a couple with higher priced, beefier rings with torx screws. All my guns shoot accurately and hold zero. Either I have been real lucky or the scope ring thing is sometimes overthought. Had one lapped, all others no lapping, I really can't see the difference.

Thanks; maybe I’ll just buy the lapping kit and the Leupold rings.

The savage came with some rings/cheap scope in the package but it won’t hold the 0 for anything now. I figured I’d get a nice scope and since the rings are too small I’d get something decent once and be done.

I used the Weaver Quad mounts on my 10/22. I got them at Walmart for under $5 a while ago. They were well worth the money. I did have to lap them, but they were fairly close, so I didn't have to remove much material. The bottom side that clamps to the rail was machined. Most cheap rings aren't machined on the bottom and will cause you problems.

One piece mounts are better than two piece mounts, but they cost more.
If your 22LR rifle is a high dollar high precision gun, get a high dollar high precision 1 piece mount.

Decided to go with the Leupold rings and the wheeler lapping set. I hope to have one or two more scopes to sight in over the next year so I figured I might as well get what I can afford to do it right this time (and in the somewhat near future).

Next optics will likely be a for a new hunting rifle…
