Default Love my CMMG bcg, question tho...

Im a new shooter and I use my kit on a .223 wylde upper for cheap practice and cuz its fun.
Am curious about the difference between. 223 wylde and a .22lr barrel as far as longevity vs accuracy.
Thanks in advance!

I assume you are using a dropin BCG with the chamber adapter in your .223 upper barrel? Not sure I understand the question completely? I would not think you would ever wear out a barrel shooting .22 Long Rifle through it if that is what you are asking..Only thing that really comes into play of any significance when using a dropin in a non dedicated 22 LR barrel VS a dedicated 22 LR barrel, which has a 1 in 16 twist rate, would be accuracy..

A 1 in 7 Twist rate .223 barrel would yield the worse accuracy, a 1 in 9 twist better..And an old USGI 1 in 12 twist 5.56 barrel would be the best as far as accuracy..

Maybe I am misunderstanding the context of your post..So my help may be useless,LOL

Only thing to add to the above is that you may want to run a few 223/556 after a range session to clear out the gas system and barrel as 22LR is notoriously dirty and also has some lube on the bullets.

Accuracy should be fine for plinking.

A 22lr won’t wear on a 223/556 barrel as it is super slow and low pressure compared to the centerfire cartridge. Just the cleaning of the chamber, barrel and gas system may be good.

I wouldn't shoot further than 50yrds at the range, appreciate the advice on clearing the tube with a few rifle rounds.

If your upper gas 1:7 twist accuracy is ok for 25 yard plinking, 50 yard beer can might take a few shots before hitting.

Barrel longevity is a non issue for a AR clone rifle with a 22lr kit installed.

Wylde is a chamber dimension that never comes into play when your kit is installed.

*best bet for 22lr accuracy is to try many different types and find out which ones deliver reliability and accuracy out of your rifle.

I'd use a 1/12 twist AR barrel if you insist on the .223 platform. I have a new 20" Green Mountain 1/12 if anyone wants it. It's a pencil M-16 style, very light.
