Default How to get ccw in other states with our CA ccw

I remember hearing about how to use our CA ccw to get other ccw in other states. Which states are they and how do you apply without being in person. I’m looking to get one in Nevada since I visit there often for vacation.

Thanks

Apply for an non residence Arizona CCW and use your permit to fulfill your training requirements. Arizona has reciprocity with Neveda and several other states and is fairly fast/easy to get.

It was paperwork only, a shorter form than CA, and i think it took a coupme.weeks.

Get AZ by mail.

NV is difficult to get because you have to go there in person to train then you have to go to the Sheriff in person to apply. And you have to do that everytime you need to renew as well.

You can get AZ by mail and AZ permit is recognized in NV

$60 plus whatever it costs for your fingerprint cards. Many local LE will do them for $10-$15 and I have heard of people doing it themselves

All my local LE doesn't do them unless you're being booked. UPS is 35.00 per ser and AZ requires 2 sets. If you requested a packet via mail the finger print cards are included.

So if you get a California CCW permit, what is involved in getting the multi state CCW? I Remember my cousin's husband saying his Indiana CCW wasn't valid in CA and some nearby States like Chicago.

The easiest is to get an nonresident CCW that has reciprocity with states that you want to carry in, just be sure that the reciprocity doesn't restrict non residence CCW. Arizona is the easiest, can be done online, and covers a lot of states. Also states that allow constitutional carry no permit is required, but always check each states laws before visiting that state.

Oregon does not recognize other states permits but will issue a non-resident permit to states that border Oregon. The Klamath County Sheriff will issue this permit. You will need to make an appointment and apply in person. All information is on their webpage.

There are apps you can download to your phone then select your permits and it will display a map of states where your permit is valid. According to my app if you have a Calif. permit it is valid in 30 states at this time. With only an AZ non-resident permit it is valid in 33 states. Also in January get a copy of the 2023 Traveler’s Guide to the Firearms Laws of the Fifty States. It’s $15 and has a wealth of information.

Also consider getting FL instead of AZ. FL covers all the same states AZ covers plus FL. AZ license doesn't get you FL.

FL is 7 years.

If you are willing to travel and take the 8hr class with 98 rnds of live fire you can get an Enhanced Idaho CWP if you have a permit from your home state. It will take two trips to Idaho. One to take the class and apply and one for the photo once is it approved. With a CA, OR and Enhanced ID you can carry in 37 states. You do not need a permit to carry in Idaho as it is one of the 25 permitless carry states.

Does anyone know if having the CA ccw counts as the training needed to obtain a FL or AZ non res ccw? I took the qualification via the sheriffs office and they didn’t give a certificate for the training.
