Default Property Taxes Ada County

Just got our property tax bill yesterday. Up over 19% from last year. Wondering if there was much of an increase in other Idaho counties?

Can’t wait!

Ada county reassessed like in March, right before the fed when on their quantitative tightening rampage by jacking interest rates. So, my guess is everyone's property is valued about 40% higher than anyone would pay for it.

That makes sense. The home prices have only really started to head down the last 3-4 months. Dec/Jan and 3ish% mtg rates seems a lifetime ago.

Just got ours for Ada County/Meridian and the PT went up 11.7%. I don't recall the assessed value last year.

I'd say the assessed value is pretty accurate to the values in the spring.

Interesting that even with Prop 13 and owning the CA home for 22 years its assessed value was 76% of our ID home, yet our PT in ID is 58% of the amount paid in CA.

Trouble is if house prices have declined a lot, it’s too late to apply for an appeal which ends in Oct I believe
Should be able to appeal anytime

With the levy rates, some peoples actually went down. Most have went up as they assessors doubles + valuations.

My taxes are going to be around $750 a year higher. Not very happy about that.

Ours didn't go up at all in Idaho falls, we did not approve any bonds or levies for the schools. The approved budgets are about the same and any increase is offset by the new construction of homes and their tax revenue. Property value increase should'nt affect the proportion or you share since the amount is based on what is (needed/approved budgeted) rather than the Calif method of (what we can take). You all must be so kind and generous during this last election, vs us cruel and heartless misers to your east.

And I believe the levy’s can at most go up 3%. So it’s always about what the locals are doing that has the largest impact.

Ours are up ~10% or so. Thanks to a second fire station with manpower that's really needed, and school bonds.

What would the Ada County taxes be on a $950K home that was purchased one year ago?

It’s not that simple. First off it’s not based on purchase price. Second it depends if you occupy it or not. Then there’s the levy’s.

Go to the Ada County tax commission website, enter an address in an area you are interested in, look at the past tax history of that property to get close.

Just opened mine last night. 25% of what I was paying in SLT. Amazing.
