I frequently listen to John MacArthur's sermons on YouTube. I was not aware that Newsom had put up billboards in other states and used our Lord's words to support abortion. I will pray for his salvation as requested.

Understanding the above verses, I sincerely prayed for Newsome and several other democrats to be saved. If they accept we gain a brother. If not, then the Lord, in His timing, will deal more harshly with them.

there's a difference between people who are willfully rejecting God's Word and those who are lost.

I've been reading a book about Jonah by Tim Keller and listening to the accompanying series of messages which were delivered before and after 9/11/2001 in NYC.

As part of that I listened to a message titled "Those Who Cling...Forfeit the Grace". This message was delivered on 9/30/2001; it covers Jonah 2:1-3:3. You can listen to it free since they released it on their podcast a couple of years ago.

I will openly admit, I usually listen to Keller's messages three or more times, for a variety of reasons. This one is pretty dense, but he makes a key point, about how there are really three kinds of people: religious people, irreligious people, and Christians. Without getting into the differences, he says (around 30 minutes in):

how much more prayer needed for these people who already know the Word to open their eyes? they even go as far as going against their church! they even use the Word of God to justify their lust for killing the babies and gay marriage and trangerdism. what can God do to open their eyes when they're already given the truth and they are now using the Word to justify their wickedness?

gavin, pelosi and biden are rebellious and continue to trample and reject the Word of God. they are making God a liar and telling Him He is wrong on abortion, gay marriage and trangerderism. these are the people who reject the teaching of their own church.

I think it can be argued that the sin king Gavin is guilty of is what Prager talks about in this video. In essence, king Gavin is committing evil in God's name, the worst sin a person can commit (under the law of Moses, quite possibly still).



Christians are not under the Law of Moses, but we are under a higher law, the Law of Christ, and this commandment is most definitely still a part of the Law.

It is a clear Biblical principal that knowledge creates responsibility, and by his own admission, king Gavin is a self-proclaimed Catholic. But I also believe God can save anyone He wants, even this man, even Joe Biden. I'm not holding my breath, but nothing is impossible for God.

Barang, based on what I see Pelosi and Newsome are on the path leading to a fiery judgment. I still believe it is possible for them to turn from their evil ways and seek salvation. I also believe the probability of them turning from their evil ways diminished as time passes. I know that I sat in church for years, hearing the Gospel, and continued to sin. I now look back on who I was and I am humiliated, but I eventually turned from my sin, and see it as evil and I want nothing to do with it anymore. I will continue to pray that these notorious politician will turn from their evil ways.

as long as a person is breathing there's always hope and anything is possible. yes, they can come back but also the possibility that God gave them up to deprave mind (see Romans post #15).

God will not force His will on anybody but He is patiently waiting for the lost to come home to Him. but there are times when God says enough as we see romans (post #15). the progression of their depravity just keep getting worse at the same time their conscience are developing layers of callouses until they no longer hear God. remember when the abortion started with first trimester then progressed to 2nd-3rd trimester. now it's before birth-after birth.

a terrorist is more likey to accept the Gospel and be changed because it will be a revelation to him. as to gavin, pelosi and biden, there's no more revelation to tell. they chose to reject God and totally abandon their faith and church teachings by going the opposite direction.

the importance of self examination:
it is true that getting saved is the easiest step but staying saved is very very hard. our brothers and sisters in china and muslim countries for example, they get tortured and some are put to death. i just want to mention our fellow christians who are persecuted severely to please pray for them too.

I'm staying on-topic. I wonder if you're looking at this correctly; you don't seem to be tracking with my point. That Keller message that I posted upthread, that is from a pretty hard-hitting series on Jonah, only five messages (if you're interested, let me know, I'll post links). I'd say it is worth listening to the whole series, but the one I linked is the most relevant to this thread. Keller's main point is that when a person "gets" grace, when they understand it in their heart, it changes how they react to this kind of situation. It makes them more eager to give grace to others. (As an aside, Keller gave the first message from that Jonah series on 9/9/2001, and finished the rest of the series in September/October of 2001.)

"King Gavin" is clearly unsaved. He is enabling a great evil and encouraging others to sin, the modern equivalent of offering children to Molech, and misusing scripture in that effort, compounding on his sin with an even more grevious sin. (Blasphemy got the death penalty in OT times.) Yet he claims to be a catholic, quite possibly a member of some parish. He might even attend mass once in a while, even if he spends the rest of his weeks shaking his fist at God.

But I can't see his heart. Is he an apostate, or was he never saved to begin with? I'm guessing the latter, that's the most defensible take. In this day and age, particularly in north America, it is very common that people are self-deceived, thinking they are Christian (by which I mean, genuinely saved, members of the invisible church), when they are really only members of the visible church (not really saved, going through the motions). They prayed the prayer, they responded to an altar call, they went through catechism, got confirmed, whatever. Maybe it was an emotional experience, at some service or gathering, maybe they wept, but they never repented. There is a lot of people in this boat; once I was one of them.

The first line of discipline should be in whatever parish he attends. The overseers of that parish should be taking a stand, like other parishes have done with Nancy Pelosi and should be doing with any member of the parish that commits similar offenses.

But I'm not a member of that parish. I don't have any authority over king Gavin, I'm not a member of his parish with responsibility for discipline, I don't know him personally (so I can't speak to him directly), and the best thing I can do is to pray specifically for king Gavin, so that he might get saved and repent. None of us deserve salvation, and that means neither you nor me, nor anyone else reading this thread.

But that NKJV fire-and-brimstone stuff, "you had your chance and now it is judgement" is not winsome. I walked away from the church for years, and had I gotten that kind of guff from people when I came back, I would have left again. I'm not saying not to speak the truth, I'm saying that it's not enough to speak the truth, which is why we're commanded to speak the truth in love. That means with the correct heart posture. God Himself plainly says that He takes no pleasure from the death of the wicked, and calls us to be imitators of Him. I don't think MacArthur's heart is in the wrong place here. "Prayer is the slender nerve that moves the muscle of omnipotence."
