I recently got my CA CCW, and my instructor told me I could also use the completed training to get an AZ CCW. I looked at the AZ DPS site and found the application in PDF format, but not the fingerprint cards. It seems they used to send out application packets by mail on request (which included the fingerprint cards), but not anymore. There isn't much detail specifically for out-of-state fingerprinting on that site, and I couldn't find any recent/relevant posts here on calguns.
So, please let me ask: Has anyone here recently applied for AZ CCW (non-resident) and is familiar with the process? Does anyone know where to get the cards and where/how to get fingerprinted? I live in the SF Bay Area but wouldn't mind driving out and paying to do this the right way. Assuming I had the cards, some older posts mention taking the cards to their local PD/Sherrif's office and getting printed there, but is this really an option? For some reason I'm imagining myself getting laughed out of the office if I do that... Then there are some anecdotal posts of going the UPS Store but it seems even more out of place for this kind of thing... Last edited by chilulu; 09-06-2022 at 12:54 PM.. |

Yes, its very normal for local LEO offices to do fingerprint cards for a thousand different reasons. Some places have specific dates/times that they perform these services...sometimes they have very long lines. |

I had mine rolled at a UPS store for my Arizona CCW. But I can't remember where the cards came from its been a few renewals already.

Mine came in the packet I requested. That was years ago though. Last edited by WarBoyNux; 09-14-2022 at 8:59 PM.. |

The "Qualified Technician" in my case was the teenage manger of the UPS Store. My memory of the ordeal was that she did such a poor job I was worried Arizona DPS would reject the fingerprint cards and make me do it over. The prints were smudged and not as clear as I would expect they wanted. But they accepted them.

Whoever does the prints will have cards. I am a CA certified fingerprint technician and, since AZ no longer sends out packets, I've had to buy both fingerprint cards and large envelopes to make my own AZ packets for my clients.
