Astoria range near Soledad has steel targets out to 700 yards. https://www.astoriarange.com/the-ran...rly-rates.html
I haven't been to Astoria, but plan to go sometime this year. If you are setting up your own target s, then Panoche Hills, Tumey Hills, and Griswold Hills are all very close to each other, but about 2 hours from Monterey, Salinas, or San Jose. Panoche usually opens about October 15, at the beginning of Chukkar season. Griswold and Tumey are accessable from the public roads. Links are at the bottom of their page: https://www.blm.gov/office/central-coast-field-office It's best to call BLM about a week or so before you go to confirm that shooting is ok. Shooting does get restricted because of fire danger. Do not take any targets that you cannot completely clean up and haul out. And pick up your brass. They no longer allow clays, even biodegradable ones, because there isn't enough rain to break them down. You can set up tin cans as targets at Los Altos Rod and Gun. At 40 or 100 yards. http://www.losaltosrodandgunclub.com/ Laguna Seca has some steels. Last time I was there, I think they were only for pistol or rimfire. https://www.co.monterey.ca.us/govern...e-pistol-range |
