If you are stationed in CA but your state of residency is not CA, can you obtain a CA DL? I was always under the impression that doing so would make you a CA resident.. Asking for a coworker, I have no need to get a CA drivers license.

It can be done.
You need to surrender your current State issued DL, in order to obtain the CA DL. If you do not provide the required documentation for a REAL ID complaint DL/ID, then you will be issued a FLA CA DL. Once you obtain the CA DL, CA will consider you a CA resident. Federal laws/regulations prohibits a person from having more than one REAL ID compliant DL/ID. |
