Default Closest BLM spot to LA?

Hey all,

I used to have a membership over at Oak Tree, which was decent, but have really wanted to visit a BLM spot that allows for shooting distances over 100m. Friend has one that is 3 hours drive if starting in Hollywood area...are there any closer BLM options (under two hours) or am I dreaming? If you know of a decent spot, where like-minded calgunners clean-up after themselves, shoot me a pm!

That's what I'm thinking. I do remember seeing a post ages ago on something closer but I can't seem to find it now

Stoddard Wells off the 15.It’s kind of a **** hole because people don’t clean up and think it’s a dump site for larger items, but you can find some decent spots. It takes me less than 2 hours coming from LAX area.
The drive home is usually 3-4hrs

Wherever you end up going, if it’s on BLM, find out ahead what restrictions on the type of ammunition may be in place. I know that at one time there was a prohibition on any ammunition that uses a bullet with any steel components (jacket, core, plating, bi-metal, etc.), so look into that.
I would also suggest searching some of the off-road forums to find out about any negative interactions with BLM rangers of late, if that is still an issue. That might steer you to another place, especially if there is a local example known to be a problem. Same for any USFS lands; you could end up with a Ken Marcus situation if you are not careful.
Good luck, and good shooting!

Shot out there last month. Still a mess out there but I always make it cleaner than the way I found it. Loaded a bunch of TV's and bags of shotgun shell into my truck last time when we were done and dropped them off at a local business I am friends with that allows me to use their dumpster.

A lot of Tweakers, meth labs, pot farms, and disgruntled unwelcoming landowners around RC and the surrounding area. Also, last year there was a dead body cut up in to pieces and spread throughout the area (https://abc7.com/kern-county-body-ro...illa/10903960/ ).

So be careful out there!

Always good advise when shooting in remote areas.

Though I've shot at sketchier areas. Anybody remember Kentucky Range off of Angeles Forest Highway?

Yes, Kentucky was dangerous. Duck and Run just to change targets.
