HK USP Compact 45. Initially I only bought it because of the 10 rd limit, and as a beginner I couldn't hit anything with it. I got so frustrated that in a years time I sold it. Fast forward another year after taking numerous classes I realized it wasn't the gun's fault. So I went on a quest to find the same gun again and located it here on Calguns. Now it's my every day carry. I love it.

.22 long Colt Trooper III 6" barrel, blue, 6 shot wheel gun. Bought in mid 70's and still enjoy it. Solid straight shooter. Low cost trainer for armatures....

Beretta M9.
I like it but hate the safety/decocker and how chunky the grip it is (for me). I know, I know, do the G conversion and get slim grips. In time but i still own it. I prefer the CZ a lot more.

Mine was a Glock 23 Gen 3 years ago. Looking back with what I know now it would've been either a G19 or M9 for my first gun.

Colt Army model 1860 black powder, percussion cap revolver.
Yes, I'm really that old. ![]() (And also I was in a State that had more restrictive handgun laws than even California, at that time.) I bet no one here can beat that, as far as the age of the design of their first handgun! It was just like a Glock but without the Perfection. ![]() What I liked about it was that was my first handgun and it was almost like a piece of art with the beautiful blued finish and nice solid wood grips. I liked the clicks the action made, it locked up tight like a bank vault. What I didn't like about it... slow to reload, you had to thoroughly clean it after every shooting, and the guys on the other side of the Civil War were always trying to steal it from me. ![]() Actually it was actually the flat spring, above the trigger that eventually broke and way back then you couldn't get kool things like a new piano wire type spring or even a conversion kit that allows you to shoot Centerfire cartridges. Still I have good memories of it, But I think I lost it around World War 1. . Last edited by sealocan; 03-04-2022 at 9:34 AM.. |

Colt Series 70 Gold Cup National Match in early '80s. Still have it. Why? Dad was a Marine and the 1911 was what us kids grew up wit.
