I live in San Francisco but have some new shooter buddies in Roseville that want to head to some public land in the near future. Are there any public lands places to shoot within a 4hr drive from Sac that are not under fire restrictions? Thanks in advance.

Spenceville, North of Sacto near Marysville. 1 hour from Roseville. No fires. Bring water/shade/sense of responsibility. It is an uncontrolled range.

USFS land is technically closed until 9/6 for public use, possibly longer due to the vast amount of retards starting fires, blocking roadways and trashing public areas. Spenceville and Oroville are two free public ranges near Sac.
https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE...eprd945702.pdf A two hour drive E on 80 and you’re in NV, more BLM land than you’ll be able to ever explore. Find suitable spot with a good backstop thats relatively brush free and doesn’t have livestock or off roaders around. Check for any local fire restrictions before you go. Good luck. Edit: Looks like USFS closed ALL Region 5 forest land to public use until 9/17. Basically all of CA other than Humbolt. https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/r5/ne...d=FSEPRD949139

Spenceville is in Yuba County and isn't on the CDFW list. Still, a phone call to the control agency would be prudent. Spenceville Wildlife Area: (530) 538-2236; North Central Region's Rancho Cordova office at (916) 358-2900.
