I want to deploy so badly!
I went on MOBCOP today and put in for some stuff but I really want to go to gitmo. Also, how do you tell your leadership you want active duty orders when you are a reservist? |

Let your 1SG (who will let the CO know) and S1 know.
I don't see why they would hold you back, but they would be the first round of signatures you'd need. They might even help you out. I had soldiers on mobilizations and ADOS orders all the time. Some try to make a full time gig of it.

I guess I’m now an old crusty retiree. When I was a PFC I guess I would have found gitmo interesting too. My suggestion is to go somewhere where you can get out in the system and see America’s true might. If the only places you have been are CONUS mass training sites it will open your eyes and make you contribute. It will suck in many ways but you will feel a sense of pride and fulfillment that guarding gates and pulling weeds at gitmo never will.

Agreed! Put out the word with your COC and keep an eye on MOBCOP, not always easy to do since they changed to .gov network access only. Keep in mind there's only a few places left to get a "combat" patch.

I applied for an MP posting in Corpus Christie and they emailed me back and stated that they need some documentation and one of them was my most recent APFT scorecard. Only thing about that is Ive never taken an APFT, only the ACFT.

Unfortunately my latest acft scorecard has the female box marked, I cannot believe that I didnt catch that when I signed it!!!! I did score a 516 though so not bad! Although its probably invalid because of the inaccurate sex designation lol. |

I wouldn't invalidate the card, you have the recorded scores, just re-tally it.

Check out Tour of Duty, there you can find units that are deploying who are looking for additional people to fill out their UMRs.
I will say this, I had a Soldier come to my company last month from Active Duty, he was looking to deploy. One of my many Majors was in the room and asked him his MOS, and then asked him if he would like to be a door gunner on a helicopter. The Soldier said "of course", that would be awesome, the MAJ made a quick call to a friend and the Soldier was put on that unit's roster to conduct SRP in a month right then and there.

MP does not stand for Military Police, it means Multipurpose. They are some of the highest deployed soldiers in the US Army, it should not be a problem getting deployed.
As a NG MP I deployed to war, riots, fires, floods and MJ interdictions. My civilian job was for the state, got as much military time as I wanted. I would get gigs working at various post throughout the state for higher up military functions that needed MP’s for security, usually a weekend thing. There is less opportunity for such things in the reserves, when I got out of the active Army I was in a reserve unit. We never did anything, no field time no deployments. I lateraled to a NG unit and it was much better, lots of deployments, drills actually spent in the field soldiering.
