Now that the holidays are over, we need to set a date. I'll try to get it scheduled within the week.

Looking for a reloading clinic in south Cali. I live in 29 palms and I am just starting to research reloading in general. Any advice would be appreciated.

Check in with this thread/chapter, they have a class coming up in a few weeks. I believe the reloading site is in Riverside so you will have to travel about 90 miles as you say you are in 29 Palms but I believe it is the closest clinic and Chapter to you.

OK! I know we have been lagging on getting the next clinic set up. Sorry bout that. Lots of stuff going on in my life right now, and since I haven't heard from any of the others I'm assuming it's the same for them...or they just suck.

So...I will make a point to get in touch with the other LA county instructors this weekend and see when we are all(or most) available and get another clinic set up in the near future.

^sounds like a good way to go. I would say wait till after the clinic if you can. We'll have a variety of different equipment you can check out and see what you like best.

In other news, we've been PM'ing a bit and it's looking like the later part of march for the next clinic. Probably 29th or 30th. I should have a confirmed date for everybody tomorrow.

Ok folks we are set for the ***LA area reloading workshop on sunday March 30th.***

Our reloading workshop / classes differ from most classes that merely lecture. This will be a "Hands on" reloading class where you will make and take home the ammo you craft. The majority of students who have taken this course have gained the skills to reload on their own.

We will cover the basics of reloading in a way that will be remembered. You will learn by doing hands on.

Most standard pistol calibers can be covered. Rifle may be limited to 30-06, .308 and .223. However ask if you have a rifle caliber and we have dies and components we will make it happen. Brass could be the deciding factor here.

There will be a donation for this class of $70.00. Club members receive a $20.00 discount. Lunch is included in the cost of the class.

Components for one box of pistol (50 rounds) or 2 boxes of 223 (40 rounds) or 1 box of large rifle (20 rounds) are included. Brass is not included. There will be clean brass in most cases available for exchange as there is no time to clean brass the day of the event. Should you like to get your brass cleaned PM me to get it done in advance.

Lesson #1 Reloaders save their brass.

Location is in the santa clarita/valencia area Registration 8:30 am and 9:00 am start time. We're shooting to be out of there by 3-4pm.

Some clean brass will be available on exchange basis as there will not be enough time in the class to clean your brass. Should you have brass that needs cleaning if you can get it to me, I will run it through the tumbler prior to the class.

If you would like to attend, please post in the thread. Please also include the rifle or pistol calibers you would be interested in making and taking home to shoot. Please understand there is usually only time to load one choice of calibers in the class.

The class size will be limited to 8-10 students. ID will be required. Must be 18 years old or must be 21 to load Pistol ammo unless with a parent.

...thank you bumslie for encouraging me to ripoff BigBronco's post and use it here.

Places reserved for and calibers of interest

Interested in the 3/30 clinic. When will then clinic start, and how long will it run?

Also, I've got components and dies for .45 and 308, along with clean brass for .45 (still need to clean the 308, but I'll need to de-crimp those first)

If you have your own dies and or components, make sure you have a shell holder or let me know in advance and also, let me know what components you have so I can make sure that we have load data for you.

Another issue is that the clinic is not in a very large area so, we can't just let people come to observer unless they volunteer to help in some way.

OK, let's get a list going.

Students:

AK4me...................... 9mm
rocketsci....................308 (has own dies and components)
Matixten....................223
btell..........................223
LAKings22..................????
Deemen.....................223
Guruwes....................223/9mm/45 whatever we have extra dies for
Portcullis.....................223 or 45acp
atolax25......................308

Instructors/helpers:

CSA (possibly +1)
Toes
Intoforever
Bigbronco (I will have an extra copy of all the divorce forms you're wife will need. You can give them to her when you get home)

I'll join the fun CSA. If you need me to instruct, I'll do that. If you need me to be a helper, I can do that as well. It's your call.

Update to my sign-up:

I will be reloading 308, and I have brass and components, although the brass has crimped primers, so... Dunno how hard it will be to use. Gotta start up the tumbler!

I have dies and shell holders for .45 and 308 which I can bring, along with components if needed.

Don't worry about those crimped primers. We have the tools you'll need to remove the crimp. It's something we go over at every clinic.

I can help if you need it.

Looks like you have quite a crew at the moment, but if you need it, I'll be glad to come up.

I would like to attend the class... 9mm or 45acp or 223 whatever works best for the class structure... I don't have any components but I'm sure I can find some dirty brass... I've always wanted to learn how to reload but never knew exactly how to start thanks for doing this...

Toes,

I just started wet tumbling with SS media. I'll get all the brass looking like new except, I'll leave the primers in for edumakationel porpoises.

YES. We will exchange your dirty brass for our clean brass because, we don't have enough time to tumble that day. If you don't bring your own brass, you'll go away knowing how to load a muzzleloader but won't have any hands on experience loading metallic cartridges.

No requests for .12 squirrel, 7.5 Swiss Ord., any Maynard rounds, any pinfire rounds, .50Alison, .510DTC or .55 Boyes either. These guys are pretty boring. When are we going to start teaching paper patched loads? Duplex loads? Rimfire loading? etc?
