How did they get the serial number encoding? Wasn't that one of the requirements on new models?

It might be a few days to a few weeks - even though the two models are exactly the same as Ruger's 49 state offerings, these have different serial number series, which means Ruger had to start stamping these batches (differently) and getting them out to the distributors, who will then get them out to the stores, and then to us, the buyers. Shouldn't be long as it doesn't need design changes, just different number series stamped.

All good. Worth the wait!

I guess I need to buy a MKIV and the on-roster SR-22 now.

I had my LGS order sr22 on 5-27. Got the call 6-8 that they got mine in. Promptly jammed down there and put it in jail. Looks good, feels good. Comes with 2 mags so i ordered 6 more.

Anyone know if there is enough material for an rmr cut on the slide?

I have the 7" MKII Gov Target so I was going to eventually get a Buckmark 5.5 but now I can get the MKIV. Nice. I may skip the SR22 if it is at all close to the P22... which is not my favorite. The real benefit of these is hopefully other manufacturers are following Ruger's example here.

I have hated that gun more than any pistol I've owned... though whatever I have done to the RSA and mags over the years has gotten mine to the point where it is reliable with Golden Bullets and CCI Mini-Mags... still no fun to shoot it reliably in my opinion. I keep it for the horrible trigger that may help my son learn trigger control someday. I bet the Ruger is much better but might be redundant.

Haven't seen one yet out in the wild.
Anyone know if the top of the MkIV is drilled and tapped for a rail?

^^ Just jailed one yesterday. The top of the pistol is tapped for optic mounting.

https://ruger.com/products/markIVTar...ets/40183.html

"Accurate sighting system features a drilled and tapped receiver for Weaver- or Picatinny-style rail for easy mounting of optics."

I wonder if there are low-pro plates for FF3's and RMR's and who makes the best. I doubt they would co-witness factory irons.

The Mad Macs that mounts over the ejection port looks low.

This is how I have my MKII setup with a Burris plate.

How do you like the Hogue grip compared to stock?

A lot better than stock (which are just flimsy plastic panels), but not as supportive as the Volquartsen Volthanes which lock in the top and bottom of the grip, that I had on there forever till they needed replaced. Hogues are way less bulky so I tried them and they are also good for non-target grips.

Bought mine at Turner's. Upgraded everything that I felt would make a difference for an enjoyable range day. That included OEM pic rail, Sig Romeo Zero RDS, Hogue G10 grips, Taccom charging handle, Tandemkross extended mag release, and Volquarsten bolt release and magazine base pads. The sum of all these parts makes manipulating the Mark IV feel more intuitive if that makes sense.

I still have my fathers Mark I and II. They are more of an heirloom at this point. I have found memories of him teaching me safety and marksmanship with these two fine pistols. So, when the Target version was added to the roster... I had to have one and make it my own.

Cheers!

Wow. Your needs for an enjoyable range day are pretty demanding. I think I once replaced the recoil spring in my Mk.II at one point.

I dunno if my cousin cleaned his Buckmark, but my MKII has to be cleaned for sure... but not till the black caked sludge gets so thick on the RSA it is starting to slow down. I think that happens about every 100 rounds on a P22 and maybe 250 rounds on a AA Glock conversion... but probably 2-3k on a MKII... or you may opt to clean it if black tish is getting on you from the pistol. I doubt if Buckmarks handle more gunk, but I been wrong before.

I disagree with your assertion that you would not be willing purchase products from a company that doesn?t wish to be subjected to the onerous regulatory BS the People?S Republic of Kalifornornistan demand be placed infringing on the Constitutional Rights of the citizenry.

It is just a matter of time before all the unconstitutional laws will fall.

Unfortunately, it will not happen while I am a resident of this formerly great state. I plan to retire in a few years and move to another state in the free part of the country, where I can exercise my 2A rights un-infringed.
