$120 is probably with a die which is NOT the best way.
I pull the barrel off the action and single point thread the barrel which ensures the barrel are concentric to the bore. You have to unpin and press the rear sight forward on the barrel in order to get to the flats on the barel to unscrew the barrel from the reciever so the barrel can go in the lathe without the reciever. It's a lot more work to do it right. It's a couple hour job by the time it's all back together.

While you have been bumping this thread, I have had two different people drive down from the bay area to have this type of work done.
In and out in a couple hours...

Op
As you looking for a gunsmith - maybe a classified or job offered is a better forum for this request. Bumping this thread is annoying as you are not looking for: Gunsmithing & How To Pro, Amateur & WECSOG and Tutorials, Guides & OLL Build Instructions Your request is outside of what Gunsmithing / WECSOG is about There is an old thread on great and local FFL. Maybe call a few shops in your area to see if they can refer you to a local smith.

OP, If you want it done correctly, check with your buddies or other Calgunners in your area or enroute to SoCal that need gunsmithing work done. Then find out if everyone is vaccinated and if so, all of you contact Randall to see if you can schedule an appointment the same day so you can carpool the trip down. It's only a 5 1/2 hour drive from Sac if you use I-5. I-5 is boring, but a faster straight shot down.

I still need to find time to bring my SKS for you to install a side rail and maybe cut down my Howa. |
