VERY Minor suggestion... I click New Posts, open each page in a new tab, Then go back to the home page and click Mark All Forums Read. This way I have the snap shot of new posts to open, yet won't miss posts that come in later.

When clicking on New Posts, 3 page numbers appear. I open those then click on page 3 and see pages 4,5 available, etc until I have all 10 pages open.

I ask that you change the setting to allow up to 10 page numbers to show on the first page of Search Results.

On the RSS feed for news readers (I use Google Reader), could you please include the whole post? Right now calguns includes the topic title, forum that it's posted in, time and person posting. It would be even better if the whole post was included in the RSS feed. Most sites do this, and I think it would be beneficial since everyone who posts here don't necessarily know how to make an informative post title.

Thanks for listening and the great site!

Im not sure if this is the right place for my suggestion, please delete or move if needed, but please let me know the right spot as well.

Suggestion: I read through the "pay it forward- do not merge Kest" thread in the for sale section and think its a great idea. Its just alot of pages to see alot of stuff that many wont ship. Would it be possible (or appropriate) to have such a thread in the local chapters section or something? That way we could do it in our area? I figured trying to make multiple threads, by location for such a "pay it forward" type thread would be a no no.

Thanks.

Can the search be fixed? It wont let you search things like "G34" or numerics like .223 or 223, 308, etc.

This would be a HUGE help when trying to find info specific to a caliber or like for Glocks the acronym people use when referring to them (i.e., Glock 17 or G17)

So do the mods or webmaster ever read these "suggestions"???? People could probably sell a lot more items if the boards would be cleaned up or at least be able to search them like I "suggested"

Default sorry

if there's some overlap or repetition, but I'm not going to read through 26 pages to see if its been mentioned already. . .
I think it would be a great help to categorize the Sales forums by county, or at the very least by area IE san diego, LA, IE, etc. just my 2 cents

I just figured it out and you don't need to change a thing.

I just use this RSS feed: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/e....php?type=rss2

instead of http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/e...l.php?type=rss

RSS2 includes the full posts. Awesome.

Right now we don't permit 3 character search strings. Kestryll tried to set it up and it bogged down the system so badly it was unusable.

Yes we do, in fact I'm subscribed to this thread so I get an email on every posting in addition to seeing it when I search for New Posts and when I view my active/subscribed threads through the User CP.

I hope this idea hasn't been posted already, if it has I apologize for not having found it.

Suggestion: Maybe an automated pop-up or pm could be sent to your user cp whenever someone quotes one of your posts. That way if someone has a question or comment directed at a post of mine, I'll be automatically notified and I'll be more efficient with my response.

Thanks.

I was wondering if instead of subscribing to threads if there could be an option to put threads into favorites?

Sub categories for the non firearms for sale section would be nice.
-automotive
-electronics
-media
-tools
-motorcycles
-etc....

Sometimes I think it would be helpful to include "Add User to Ignore List" in the pop-up menu that appears when you click on the username of a poster. It may just be my imagination, but it seems to me that the frequency of very stupid posts has been going up a lot lately. Sometimes there's a burst of extreme stupidity and/or hate, and it just seems like too much work to head over to the User CP page and type in usernames.

I'm not referring to anybody in this thread; I rarely venture outside the 2nd Amendment forum.

I have a couple of suggestions:

1. In for sale forums... make the location required in the subject line so we dont have to open them all and search for locations, it'd make it easy to fish out violaters as well.

2. It would be pretty cool if we could have a thread / sub forum that lists all the different gun shops sorted by area and allowed calgunners to rate the stores and leave comments of their experiences. As long as Calgunners could only post ONCE to vote, it would be a very good way to gauge the stores Maybe allow us to edit our ratings in case we change our minds over the years. Not sure how this would work logistically, but I think it would be a GREAT resource for all of us and a venue to promote good service from these stores.

How about CalGuns challenge coins? This may already be in the works but a challenge coin with the calguns logo and website address would be a great thing to give out to important, influential people that may benefit the calguns/calguns foundation cause. Just a thought

challenge coins a nice high class way of promoting CGN and the CGF and there are a lot of companies that make quality custom challenge coins.

I would even volunteer to get pricing from several of these companies if the idea is doable. PM me if you would like me to look into this further.

Thanks,

Paul

Don't know if it's possible or if maybe there's already some way to do it that I don't know about but when you get an email advising of a post to a subscribed thread it would be nice if when you clicked on the link you would enter the site logged in. I think there are other sites that work that way but I don't know how they do it.

also, could we limit posting in the for sale section to members with more than 10 posts and more than 2 weeks join date? Most of the problems in this section will disappear.

I liked the feature that sent us an email when someone responded to one of the groups we posted in. Is that a thing of the past?

If I'm understanding what you're asking for correctly, that function already exists as the User Control Panel. If you're on the 1.0 skin that's on the upper left in white text as "User CP" on the blue bar. In the 1.1 skin which has the picture of the Supreme Court as the background, it's located at the top right.

Posting in a thread automatically subscribes you, or you can use the "Thread Tools" dropdown box to subscribe.

Pet peeve of mine? Members who post "tag" to subscribe to a thread. It clutters up a thread when there's already a built-in method of subscribing to threads that your interested in.

It does more than cluttering up the thread: it also spams the thread's subscribers, and generally forces them to go check the thread in order to ensure that they didn't miss something relevant under the stupid "tag" post and that they'll get another email when somebody later posts something meaningful.

Taggers need to be persecuted to the fullest extent allowed by law. No, that wasn't a typo.
