Default Your favorite polymer pistol with a rail?

Hey folks. I'm currently the owner of a SA XD 5" and I like it well enough. It's my only 'do it all' gun.

Before I bought it I shot the 4" version against a G19 and was a little better with the XD, but I still like the G19 and wouldn't turn one down in the future, as I can train up and shoot as good with it.

That said I'm planning to try a G34 and see how it compares.

Anyone else have a particular favorite polymer pistol with a rail that they like for range+home defense use?

M&P 2.0 5"

The VP9 is a great option too, P320 wasn't bad or the PPQ but I sold them both for what it's worth. I still have the 2.0 5"

HK USP series. Yeah the rail is proprietary, but I’m okay with making it work if the gun is dead nuts reliable.

Jericho 941 comes second

Hk Mk23

It is not the one I carry, or even the one I use for HD. But it is the favorite in my Polymer lineup. And I would rely on it if needed.

although not really practical for concealed carry, excellent choice for home defense..

my favorite of these two is currently the expert simply because I haven't ponied up the $2k+ for the proper mk23 LAM

the LD BLAST on the expert is extremely effective for home defense

48 rounds in two silver dollar size holes..

very first 10 rounds out my expert, maybe 2 hours after picking it up, too easy

Turn your XD into the best polymer pistol with a Powder River Precision trigger kit. One of the best upgrades I’ve ever made to any gun.

Only one that I own is a P365. Has a 365xl slide (with proprietary rail) with a TLR6 on it. Also, Recover Tactical makes a picatinny adapter for the rail, if desired.

My P99 AS is my favorite. DA/SA with decocker. Currently fitted with a Viridian C5 and holster for the combo. I wish it had another position on the "rail" a little further back. I believe I saw somewhere that the Canik TP9 has a version that is DA/SA with second strike capability.

any GLOCK or HK or SIG polymer handgun will do just fine, all of them have a rail

I would choose HK USP both compact & full size models

On-roster and keeping it 100% stock: HK USP.

On-roster and modifying it: Glock 17 Gen. 3 with Razorback frame fix from Battle Ready Arms. Might as well sell your Glock slide and get a Brownells slide with RMR cutout (and a RMR plate cover for Brownells slides from Maple Leaf Firearms if you're not getting an RMR right away). You'll break dead even on money and get a slide with slide serrations in the front, a windowed cutout in the front if you so choose, and a RMR cutout (versus sending your stock slide out for work and paying for it).

Off-roster: HK VP9 on a budget. Sig P320 X5 Legion if not.

M&P 2.0 5" is better than G34. Better ergonomics. Can shoot it all day and night without painful wrists unlike the G34. Accuracy is the same.

For the range, my favorite polymer gun is the HK USP 9 full size. I like the single action trigger but the double action trigger sucks, which is why I don't use it as my bedside gun.

My bedside gun is a Glock 21SF.

Thanks for the recommendations, folks. It's interesting to see what names pop up repeatedly.

I remember trying a USP in .40 a long time ago and liking it.

I'd love to try the HK P30L and a Sig P320.

Also thanks for the reccomendations on the PRP trigger kit for the XD, I'd seen those before but wasn't sure if it was worth it. What I'd wanted to do was get a taller/brighter front sight b/c my XD has a 6 o'clock hold for aim and I'd prefer it to shoot flat.

While some people I have only ever seen posting to tear members down with a position/sense of of self-superiority, most members on this forum have tended to have a sense of community, camaraderie, and a spirit of helpfulness, even if they don't always agree or come across as blunt (tough love, really). I wouldn't have signed up as a lifetime contributor of the forum otherwise.

As for the rest, well, they've found their way onto my ignore list. With how many members this forum has, the infinitesimally small number of people not adhering to the spirit are so few and far between that adding all of them to that list adds up to probably not even a fraction of a percent of the members. Honestly better to just ignore those outliers.

This spirit is especially important in these times, with all these new members joining.
