We are on Fiber. Up and down bandwidth consistently in excess of 750mbs. We are on Sonic for $65/month. It's a great deal but I know Sonic's fiber has limited geographical reach.

just switched to Tmobile 5G Home Internet (5G cell modem w/WAP) -- $51.40/mo out the door.

as above, check if you have fiber locally first.

Comcast/Xfinity is $19/month for 2 tyrabytes but if you rent a router from them for $15/month total 35 its unlimited highspeed.

$89 "pro install" one time fee and house visit required, but after I think you can turn on and off no or minimal fee but don't quote me.

my Note9 phone shows over 500mbs download as does my newer laptop.

main thing with Comcast is you can then get your wifi off anyone else's Comcast Wifi with your account and password. I get "free wifi" but LL wont give up account # (can't really blame them) so I'm thinking of getting my own at $19/month just for the roaming feature.

Pretty sure there are all sorts of services that will get you "real phone numbers" and fax etc over a WiFi including # with your area code to fake "land line" but you can also use world wide.

Comcast seems to be THE service in SF Bay Area where I'm at. Heard up in Copperopolis they wouldn't let big firms in so everyone is on 1990s tier speeds and you gotta wait to late night to download stuff.

How come the Govt can spy on everyone's WWW service but USA can't get its act together with decent nationwide WWW access like all sorts of 2nd and 3rd tier nations?

FJB promised high speed service to the boonies and nothing has happened.

FBHO promised the same with the same result.

Cocks charges me about $140 a month for substandard service. There's only one competitor, which uses DSL. So I've have to get a ma bell landline first.

DSL is abysmal...speed varies a bunch by number of users online. Price was more than point-to-point so we dumped DSL.

We're definitely in the boonies, though a flat 6x8" antenna on the roof connects to a tower about 1/4 mile or so away. No issues other than heavy snow on the antenna, normally melted in 10-15 minutes.

Call tell them you are thinking of cancelling due to the price, ask if they have any good deals to keep your service.

Repeat yearly.

Can anyone comment on this option? I looks attractive. Is it as easy to set up as they make out? Reliable? Do they ship you the equipment or do they have to install it? Is there a cost for the equipment? Appears plug and play?

My wife and I have Verizon for our phone service. We are going to give their internet a try. Probably about the same thing. Set up is supposed to be easy. Basically plug and play.

I have one, I was technically out of the service area so sent it to another address, which is frowned upon but it’s been working since Feb.

I’m on Tmobile too for cell, I get 2-4 bars of service on my phone here, and same with the device.

It works better than the alternative which would had been business class dsl, which would have been more money and speeds suck.

This is at the shop , so for me it’s cool. I’ll run until I get caught or it’s officially available here.

As much as I hate to say it, Spectrum Internet is probably the best option. It should be $74.99 total. Everyone I know that has used FIOS has switched back due to it being so unreliable. I manage a Frontier system at our community pool and it frequently goes dead, and getting the problem fixed through their India based technical support is always a delightful experience and waste a hours of my time.

I would suggest you also buy your own cable modem instead of getting whatever garbage recycled modem Spectrum has available. Also, use a separate router and Wi-Fi and not one of the Spectrum modem/router/Wi-Fi boxes. I’m not sure why, but internet providers seem to offer the worst possible routers and Wi-Fi equipment available.

With basic internet there are a lot of VOIP options for phone service, many of which are free except for the nominal telecommunications tax. If you live in an area with poor cell service, Wi-Fi Assist works great if you have a decent Wi-Fi mesh system.

I bought an ObiTalk box and used my Google Voice number for free VoIP service. Works great and would highly recommend. Only downside is there's no e911.

Starlink has treated me well. Anywhere from 30 to 250 megabits down, 5 to 12 up. As long as it has power it works. There's no infrastructure issues such as old telephone cabling, water in the junction box down the street, other techs bumping the wiring, etc

It's expensive though. You have to buy the equipment (around 700) and it's 110 a month.

If you can get fios that's a lot faster and cheaper. I can't.
