I just started my DROS on another complete AK. Vector Arms classic AK. Once I pick it up, I'll have to take a family picture of it and my Arsenal SA M7.

Upon request HF rivet tool.

The result

You might need to grind down the rivets depending on which ones you get prior to install.

Heres my entry

Fixed mag PTR-91. May go gripless, waiting for a stripped housing to play with. Either way, next time you see it it will be a little different.

I got mine with the grip/FCG housing and flash suppressor not attatched to the rifle. I shimmed up the mag release with some tiny washers that I ground down to fit, then put it all together. It is a major PITA to load through the (HOT) ejection port. Im working on an easier way to fix the mag.

Default Hello All!!!!

I am a new member as of today wanted to thank you all for this awesome site. I live here in Sol Cal and enjoy guns a lot. I started off with 1911 .45 and went on to .308 bolt action before I got into military surplus arms, SKS and other fun shooting Cal legal stuff. I was in the Army in 1986 so I looked into building a AR 15 but the only thing I came up with was the FAB 10 and The Bushmaster Cal Legal that had the mag wall welded...Looks wierd. If you guys can help with information on Ca legal AR 15 build that would be sweet and I would also like to know how to go about the Ca legal AK build.

Thanks,
Mark

Welcome Mark,
The first thing you should do is read the FAQ in red at the top of all the pages. That will help you understand the current situation. If you have other basic questions (which you probably will) feel free to PM me. And remember, the search function is your friend .

Easiest thing for you would be:

1. Do a bit of reading in the off-list forum. Also read the FAQ up at the top of the page for an overview of the law - what configurations are legal.
2. Decide whether fixed mags annoy you more than no 'evil features'.
3. Buy your rifle parts online - www.coldwarshooters.com and www.ddsranch.com are both very familiar with California issues.
4. Buy your California-compliance parts. If you go fixed, you want a fixed mag kit; if you want detachable mags, then you want either an SRB or a Monsterman grip.

How are you able to have what appears to be a 30 rd magazine on the most evil looking of gun and still be California legal?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

xenophobe, that picture doesn't look like a 7.62..

Looks like a S&W MP15, should go into the .223/5.56 thread...

The G3 fires 7.62 NATO and not 7.62X39. Just making sure since it sounds like you bought the Wolf for your clone build . If you bought the wrong ammo I would be happy to help you out and take it off your hands for...80 bucks .

All these weapons of death (sarcasm) and I have posted nothing!!!!

ok. here it goes, mines a bit blurry...ehhmm someone obviously put their finger where they weren't suppose to.

Unfortunately I haven't had time to give a nice paint job (on the aks) don't worry about the forward grip on that one...its a .22. Also I took of that horrible mag lock and put in a prince50 one. Much better looking.
