Default Ross Schuler muzzle brakes, are you kidding me?

On a whim I ordered a couple of ross schuler muzzle brakes. One for my Savage Axis in .270, and one for my Savage Axis in .223.

They're only 50 bucks each, and have tons of good reviews online. I had Randall (ar15barrels, in Van Nuys) install them for $105, each.

I took the .223 to the range today, and the damn thing has negative recoil. That's right, you pull the trigger, and the gun jumps forward

Seriously, it's softer than my .22 rifle.

Here's the brake contact info: https://rossbrakes.com/about

And ar15barrels is a member here.

How is the accuracy before vs after installing the brake?

The hard-to-believe part is a non-disabled person admitting to putting a muzzle brake on a bolt action .223.

The same, I'm no bench rest shooter. 1 inch at 100 yards is all I'm capable of.

Don't know, don't care. My .270 is deafening without the brake. Wear muffs, like I do.

Meh, I was getting one put on my .270, and figured what the heck. What do you shoot?

Dupe. But I’ll say it again, those are nice looking brakes - real purty! And I will say, if YSR says they work well I will believe him.

Had Randall install a Ross Schuler brake years ago on my Tikka. Great product and solid work by Randall.

You should have had Randall put a barrel on it while he had it.
Could be the $39 scope as well.

Nope, it's all me. The 5 pound trigger isn't set up for bench rest shooting, it's set up for lawyers.

This is a Rross Schuler brake installed by Randall.
Was finally able to run some loads through it, after making some adjustments to my ammo. Shot four, five-shot groups like this, a couple were actually smaller. I’m learning a few things about loading for very precise chambers.
Taped holes are from a different session with different gun.

Get some black tape.

Or, go to Lowes/Home Depot and get one of the extra large black Sharpies. Works great when using masking tape on targets in the black portion of the target.

Randall put one on my midrange rifle, Remington 700 5R, before i ever shot it. Did the bolt handle conversion, smoothed out the bolt, and mechanically mounted the scope.

Shoots very well. Noisy? Well, yeah, it's a rifle.
