Default firearms shop friendly bay area realtors

hello!

i'm looking to open my own gun store! yay

I have been doing research on regulations (federal state, city), market research, talking with some gun shop owners and have decided to "pull the trigger" pursing this further.

Hardest part has been finding a realtor / building owner that is open to a firearms shop and the building being zoned properly for retails sales.

any recommendations on realtors? I'm currently looking to lease only.

Please be more specific about where in the Bay Area so we can help.

im looking in a few different cities on the peninsula and in the valley including redwood city, menlo park, palo alto, mountain view, Sunnyvale, santa clara and san jose.

I've contacted each of these cities to get the city zoning requirements for a firearms retail store and have talked to the Santa Clara and san jose PD as well.

Wish you the best of luck OP the Bay Area sorely needs more local gun stores.

Most of the zoning you can lookup yourself online. I don't have a recommendation for a realtor. If you're just looking to lease use something like loopnet. It took me 100 tries to find 2 locations where they were acceptable with a firearm retailer. It was the first question I asked when I called. You can also look at where stores previously were.. For example, did anyone move in to Metal Dog Tactical's old location? If not, then you know it's zoned and the landlord was ok with it. Find out where other stores have been and closed and start there.

Thanks for the tips! I’ve been using loopnet and Craigslist. I’ve contacted quite a few realtors and individual owners (probably not 100 yet) most of them outright deny the use, others want to go on a phone call then lecture me about how it’s not a good business…

Ill just keep trying until I find the right place!

@ugimports

for the zoning that your building has, is it zoned for retail as well? or do not do any retail at all.

The area I'm in is zoned for retail/mixed-use. Where I'm at zoning may have changed since I've been here (haven't checked). I had to get a conditional-use permit where I was at. I don't do retail myself. I work more like a doctor or lawyer with appointments.
