Default Quick Disconnect Sling Swivel Touches Barrel

Hello all,

I've tried to research this, but came up with nothing, and so thought that I would ask the collective wisdom of this website.

I recently bought a complete "lightweight" upper from Palmetto State Armory, which came with a freefloat handguard. One of the features of this handguard was a built-in quick disconnect sling socket. However, when I put the QD stud into the socket, it JUST makes contact with the flared part of the barrel (next to the chamber). See photos. Here are my questions:

1. Will this have any effects on accuracy? I got a free float barrel to help with accuracy, and now this sling swivel is making contact with the barrel. Maybe it doesn't matter because the contact is so close to the chamber?

2. Is there any kind of quick disconnect sling swivel the is "shallower" than the one that I have? It would only need to be a small fraction of an inch shorter.

If all else fails, I could just use a mLok attached socket. But I don't want to have extra hardware if I can avoid it.

Thanks, I will try filing with a extra QD stud that I have. Does anyone know of a diagram of what they look like inside? Maybe a cross section? I can't find one on google.

You'll only need to file about 1/32 off the stud, it shouldn't affect the spring loaded BBs

I have a PSA hand guard / upper, and took a different approach, I picked up a Magpul anti rotational QD socket and installed it in the first M-Lok slot. I think it's a little stronger and solves the vertical space issue for the sling stud. Down side is they cost about $20 dollars.
