Default What need to do if I change home address?

Hello folks,

I moved to my current home location 5 months ago. I have completed the change address online application with DMV, but no plan to replace DL since it expiries in 2025. DMV has told me to print new address on a piece of paper and attach it to the back of DL. I did that.

Today I purchased some ammo in Bass Pro and all the background checking are still using old address. Looks like DOJ still has my old address even I updated my DMV record. Now I wonder what would happen if I need to buy more firearms where a secondary address verification is needed, in which I normally use utility bills but now they show my new address, different from the one in the DOJ record.

Can anybody share some experience?

Thanks

go get a new plastic DL. takes about 60 minutes if you make an appointment. total time 2-3 hrs if DMV is kinda far.

Thanks but my concern is if DOJ still has my old address. From today's experience of ammo purchase, looks like they still have my old address on file, unless requesting a new plastic DL with new address on it would trigger the address synchronization between DOJ and DMV.

Thanks

The DOJ and DMV systems are not linked to update one another. You have to do it with DOJ yourself, either with the online system or buy another gun.

I would say that the state didn't think that part through very well with the ammo background check. The truth is they don't care, and probably see it as a way to get more money out of us.

Got it, thanks. Do not realize there is such problem till now. So, the better choice would be not updating DL till the time to buy another gun. Otherwise, I might not be able to buy any ammo if I update the DL. And get the new DL before heading to but new guns.

Didn't you already do the on-line address change on DMV's site? If you did their system is updated with your new address. The only thing you don't have is a physical DL with the current address.
