Very true. Should of thought of that. Don't know why I didn't. Thanks for pointing that out politely.

You want Barnes. Cooper is an idiot Democrat BLM supporter who also flip flopped from being pro-CCW "if you have a demonstrated need" to "shall issue" after he realized how many voters this mattered to. Cooper was also endorsed by Kevin Johnson last time he ran for sheriff. Also keep in mind the idiot has been in the state assembly for 8 years and never found the time to put forward even a draft of legislation related to CCW or self defense or any of the numerous idiotic California gun laws. But he found time to sponsor virtue signaling Jussie Smollet legislation to make it a super hate crime to hang a noose, because apparently the KKK is such a prolific threat and issue we face in California. He sponsored racist legislation creating state government hiring practices for mandatory positions for people of certain races. He just pays lip service regarding CCW to get votes, he doesn't care about gun rights. You can see where his priorities lie in the 8 years he spent in the assembly and read the history of his taxpayer funded vacation here: https://www.billtrack50.com/legislatordetail/19631

I’ve never seen such slow results come in, 12% now I don’t want to give up yet. What would Cooper mean for our CCW’s?

My guess is existing CCW will be renewed if a good cause is stated. Self defense may be out as good cause. Issuance of new CCW will be low and good cause will be scrutinized for those. Essentially Sac County goes yellow on the map, hopefully with existing CCW being slightly better off or given a little more deference than for those seeking a new one.

However anyone who in the past was simply using "self defense" for GC on their apps and renewals may have a tougher go of it. Situations like this is why I never suggest anyone use "self defense" as their only GC

Just a barely educated guess though

This is from a candidate forum (link at bottom). Who knows if this is political posturing or if he really feels this way. Maybe there's a glimmer of hope?

Q: Concealed Carry Permits: California gives authority to Sheriff to approve Concealed Carry Permits and Scott Jones, the current Sheriff, has approved thousands, far more than his predecessors and a lot of other law enforcement leaders around the state. Has this added to a dangerous proliferation of firearms And as Sheriff would you be stricter in approving Concealed Carry Permits?

Undersheriff Barnes: I am a supporter of the CCW program. We have a very strict vetting process and a lot of the incidents you are seeing or not being committed by CCW holders. But our community wants to feel safe and what we see in our region now, they don't feel safe. I would continue issuing those. To say that I wish you the same number that the current Sheriff has I can't say.

Assemblymember Cooper: I’ve supported CCWs since 2010. In looking at the number of incidents, it’s just not there. The permit holders are very responsible gun owners.

Looks like the idiot Democrat got elected. Jim Cooper lied about being pro-CCW so I guess we will find out soon whether he intends to actually continue issuing them

Well this is very promising. It was what I hoped - that he would look at the facts and recognize that these people are very responsible and there have been less than a handful of incidents with CCW people in Sac County.

If he is truly willing to do this in spite of any blowback he may get from the left, then perhaps we will see only a slight tightening up. The problem for me - and I may be way off here - is that Cooper seems way more politician than lawman. I recognize that every Sheriff has to balance both of these things, but he just seems tipped way over to the politics side. However he did wear the badge for a long time before this and you have to respect that.

I think everyone should give him the benefit of the doubt and hope for the best, and support him and the people under him. Forget that he had a D next to his name on the ballot, and let's see where this goes.

That is very disappointing, but far from suprising. I believe it's not a felony to carry a concealed loaded pistol correct?

Still 155,000 ballots left to process, with a 10k spread between the two right now. They say the next update is tomorrow 4pm

I was looking at the map. Interesting to see that most rural communities voted for Barnes where most suburban/urban areas voted for Cooper. Kind of how I see politics on a state and federal level going.

It's next to impossible for Barnes to make that up.

Let's face it, Sacramento County is a (Democ) Rat county...

That’s the only thing you should list for a good cause this came directly from one of the Detectives who does the interviews.

so for Sac County, what are other good reasons to put on CCW apps ? I already have one in Sac county( I originally used "self defense" ), but renewing it down the road ?
