PA won’t pass it this year. It’s being run to force votes on it and use that to replace antis in next Nov election.

Thumbs down MICHIGAN

MICHIGAN CC is stuck in committee. Yesterday’s HS mass shooting is unlikely to help our side.

Only total morons let shootings affect their ability to reason.

If you have 20+ states with Constitutional carry and none of them have experienced "Wild West Pimp-style shoot-outs," then i'd say it's safe to say nothing negative will become of passing it, but oh well.

On top of which, that shooting would still be illegal under the proposed law.

He's termed out but obviously if the leading Dem to replace him (Shapiro) gets in then it's the same story unless it's such a bloodbath that we get the numbers in the legislature that an override is possible.

2022 couldn't be any better for republicans to win governorship in PA. As long as they pick a good candidate, they have a good chance of winning.

CC is important, but I care far more about fixing the voting laws in PA. If they can do that then PA has a fighting chance and so do the GOP for the foreseeable future.

A good overview article by Pew Research. But even they march in lockstep by using “mostly peaceful” to describe last years rioting, looting and arson.

Thumbs up FLORIDA: Governor DeSantis says he would sign CC

FLORIDA Governor DeSantis says “Of course” when asked if he would sign a CC bill. Naturally he could not promise since he’d have to know the specifics of such a bill first, but in principle he’s for it. Now to just pressure RINOs to stop fighting us….

Quote:
A video shared by the National Association for Gun Rights suggests Gov. Ron DeSantis is willing to sign a constitutional carry bill into law if passed by the Legislature.

The bill (HB 103) would allow law-abiding citizens to practice open and concealed carry by removing laws that require a concealed-weapons permit in Florida.

“Of course,” DeSantis is overheard saying in the video when asked if he would sign the bill.

Yes but at present there is little if any chance that such a bill will make it out of committee much less receive a floor vote. A powerful REpublican on a critical committee (I don't recall which one) has blocked the bill three years running by refusing to schedule it for any purpose. Basically a one man veto.

Thumbs up INDIANA

INDIANA

Quote:
Republican legislators and a gun rights group believe 2022 is the year constitutional carry can become law in Indiana, allowing people to carry a handgun without having to first get a permit from the state.

“There should be no reason why it doesn’t pass,” says Will Fite, the legislative director of Hoosier Gun Rights. “If it goes to the floor of both chambers clean as a whistle, it should pass.”

Jacob and Nisly said they’ll introduce a bill in January that will closely mirror the language of the bill they introduced in the last session, House Bill 1289

I thought police had this info, or the info was readily obtainable?

OHIO Senate passes CC! Next the House and Senate have to decide which version to send to the governor. Then Governor DeWine has to sign or veto.

Ohio only requires a 60% majority to override a veto.

HB227 passed with 60 votes. 99 total house representatives. 61%.
SB215 passed with 23 votes. 33 total senators. 70%.

We'll see what happens.

My impression is that he is a RINO. Although he will sign of f on small changes, a big one like this may be a bridge too far for him.

GEORGIA looks likely to pass CC in 2022 since the Republican incumbent Governor Kemp and his Republican primary challenger Purdue both have come out for it and both houses of the legislature are Republican controlled (Senate 34 to 22 and House 103 to 76).

Guns for me but not for thee. Ohio is already shall issue as long as you pass a background check and take the class. But that doesn't mean that the CCW is all that helpful in all circumstances. As it is, people with CCWs have been arrested for failing to tell an office "fast enough" that they were armed. There was a viral video of a sheriff's deputy going bat **** crazy when a motorist--who couldn't get a word in edge-wise with this deputy yelling at him--failed to "promptly" notify that he was armed. If ConCarry passes, it means that the cops have to assume that everyone is LEGALLY armed and just deal with it, like cops do in large parts of the rest of the country.

A bill to end the requirement for handgun carry permits passed the Indiana House last session but did not get a committee hearing in the Senate.

So we have to see what committee this goes to in the Senate and see who the chair is. Whoever was there last time is likely the culprit that single-handed killed the bill.

Thumbs up NEBRASKA

[/B]NEBRASKA[/B]

LB773: https://nebraskalegislature.gov/bill...cumentID=47134

Quote:
State Sen. Tom Brewer … said he will introduce a proposal during the upcoming legislative session to allow Nebraskans to carry a concealed handgun without meeting the current requirements of a criminal background check, a $100 fee and an eight- to 16-hour class on safe gun handling.

As of Nov. 1, there were more than 85,671 Nebraskans licensed to carry concealed weapons.

But Brewer, who represents Nebraska’s traditionally conservative Sandhills, got a boost recently from Gov. Pete Ricketts.

Speaking during a town hall meeting organized by the National Rifle Association, Ricketts pledged to sign a statewide constitutional carry bill if it reaches his desk. While that was hardly a surprise, the pledge did reinforce the governor’s pro-gun credentials.

Here are some of the obstacles facing a constitutional carry bill in the 60-day, 2022 session that begins Jan. 5:

It’s a new proposal, which will require a public hearing, advancement by a legislative committee, then three rounds of debate and approval….

A constitutional carry bill would likely go to the Judiciary Committee, which hasn’t been friendly to similar proposals. Brewer has said he will likely have to introduce a “pull motion” to advance the bill to the floor of the Legislature for debate without the committee’s consent. If the Judiciary Committee voted to kill the bill in committee, such a pull motion would require votes from 30 of the 49 state senators, instead of the usual 25 votes.

Some law enforcement agencies have concerns about removing regulation of concealed carry. While the Omaha Police Union testified in favor of Brewer’s 2021 gun bill because it allowed Omaha and other urban areas to retain more restrictive firearm laws, the union has concerns about allowing concealed carry statewide without training and a background check.

Gun rights are a hot-button issue, the kind of a controversial issue that some legislators would rather avoid weighing in on during an election year. That means there will likely be maneuvering to keep the bill from reaching debate by the full Legislature, and from senators taking a vote on the issue.

Brewer said he will get a priority designation for his proposal, increasing the chances that it will be debated, and has at least 25 supporters for his bill — a majority of senators, but short of 33 needed to fend off a filibuster. He thinks senators should weigh in on the issue ahead of the 2022 elections.

Nice to know the IN Senate is concerned with "privacy rights" of prohibited persons:

Last year, a similar law passed the House but stalled in the Senate over privacy concerns with a master database of those prohibited from carrying firearms

In 2021 Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Sen. Liz Brown, R-Fort Wayne killed it. This year year she’s introducing her own CC bill into the Senate.

Thumbs up DELAWARE

DELAWARE

Quote:
A Delaware legislative committee has heard testimony on a proposal to eliminate the requirement of a concealed carry permit for someone 21 years of age or older and not prohibited from having a firearm.

State Senator David Lawson, R-Marydel said 20 states have similar provisions, which he says help law-abiding citizens carry a firearm for protection. He added that the proposal would bring Delaware Code into conformity with Article One, Section 20 of the Delaware Constitution.

The constitutional carry bill (SB 172) was reviewed Wednesday by members of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Lawson said he will continue fighting to have it released from committee.

Depending upon what senate committee it gets sent to, RINOs may still kill it without even having to vote on it.

Thumbs down INDIANA

INDIANA

Quote:
Senator Liz Brown, a fellow Republican from Allen County, wasn’t buying it and essentially derailed Tomes’ proposed legislation by announcing straight off that there would be no amendments and no vote on the bill by her committee.
