What email did you use to contact them? All I find is the phone number and the auto-generated email from permitium.

The CCW renewal was processed fast. I just picked it up today.
Applied: 7/02/2020 Approved: 7/09/2020 Hopefully, it will work out just as well for other fellow Calguns members that are waiting on their CCW from MCSO.

Hi. I'm curious is this standard on the Monterey County ccw:
Restrictions (if any) "Invalid if Licensee has been consuming alcohol or drugs. Its in the front. In the back it says carry within 8 hours of consuming alchohol. sandywater |

Probably best to ask the sheriff's office. No concern for me as I don't indulge in either.

I think every Monterey County CCW issued includes at least 5 restrictions regarding alcohol and/or drugs listed on the back of the permit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I applied in April, and had my interview 90 days later on 7/23.
Was told 90 days from the interview I should expect a decision. Called today(11/19) and was told by the deputy my application was on the chief’s desk and to await an email from Permitium. I was given no assurance of time table—I guess any day could be my lucky day. |

Probably if your GC has to do with your employment.

GC (personal protection) isn't changing - just employment status. I figure it probably won't be an issue especially since I'm renewing, but I'd rather hold on to my renewal money if that isn't the case.

In that case, IMHO you're GTG.

Hi All. I just moved to Monterey County. Im curious if anyone has any updates in regards to processing times or if GC requirements changed in any way since this was last updated? From what im reading here, it appears the county operates similar to "shall issue".
I am going to the DMV in the next few days to formally change my address, and then apply accordingly. Thanks for any info! |

mrowner, Yes, Monterey County is basically shall issue. That is, as long as the current sheriff is in office. I would recommend you apply ASAP. My understanding is the process is about two or three months. Make sure you have all the guns that you want to add to your permit before you apply. Do your training with either 831 shooter or Tremper. Definitely do Tremper if you need more shooting instruction. If you are confident in your ability to handle your weapons, either is fine. Dave puts on a great class at 831 shooter, but there is no shooting instruction in the CCW class. Good luck, Let us know how it goes! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Much appreciated for the info Peloncito. Will apply ASAP and update accordingly.
Will probably end up trying 831 shooter as I am proficient with firearms. Thank you for the tips! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don’t know about people moving into Monterey County and then immediately applying for a CCW. I recall something about having lived here for a couple years. Can’t remember. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Sheriff is now issuing CDL-like CCW permits!
An inside source asked me to share the following:
”Monterey is issuing CCW cards now. All they have to do is request replacement. You want the card as it has new [fewer, but more general] restrictions (i.e., it’s better).”

CCW cards... is that a new thing? If so can you briefly explain how they are different? Thanks

Yep, it's new. Monterey County has been issuing a paper CCW permit (that is the size of two wallet-sized cards) up until now. If what Paladin says is true, they will begin issuing a wallet-sized plastic CCW permit card. It would be much more robust and easier to carry in a wallet.

Does your inside source know if the amount of CCW pistols allowed will increase from three?
