Default Benelli M4 question #2

The legal version of the Benelli M4 has a fixed stock that looks as if it is collapsible but, is accualy pinned in place. It has a LOP of about 14". Is there a way to shorten the LOP on this stock and re-pin it?

Do the work out-of-state and then bring it back in when you have it in a non-AW configuration.

I was not aware that Benelli M4's come with pinned collapsing stocks now.

Therefore, I also have no clue how one could go about un-pinning it and re-pinning it, since I have no idea how it's pinned.

You shouldn't need to do the work outside of CA, just make sure the action is dissembled (trigger group pulled out) until the after stock is re-pinned.

First off, I find collapsible stocks to be a colossal pain in the butt.
The California legal fixed in place stock is to long for me (and most others I have talked to).
I am not interested in making it movable. I just want to shorten it so that it fits me better and repin it into place. Why would I need to go "out of state" to do that?!?

One of the California legal versions of this gun comes with a stock that looks just like the collapsing stock but is pinned in place to be Cali legal.

Because even if it's only adjustable for 2 seconds before you pin it again, it was an assault weapon during those 2 seconds, and you will have committed the crime of manufacturing an AW. But you don't need to go out of state to do the work - see my post above. If the action is disassembled, you can do the work inside CA.

Interesting. Well, presumably however it was pinned could be reversed, but without knowing how it was pinned I can't really comment on how difficult it would be.

AFAIK...
Need to replace the tube.

The top tube is the current Mil issued.
The middle tube is the non-fixed commerical.
The bottom tube is the fixed commerical.
Note the adjustment stop notches in the tubes.

My m4 came with a fixed stock, but the tube is the 3-position collapsing type. as far as I know, Benelli quit selling the civilian m4 with a single-notch tube years ago, and they all have the 3 collapsing notches now, regardless of the stock it comes with.

But, I suppose it's possible that this one that OP says comes with a fixed skeleton stock, that I'm not familiar with, may be fixed by using the old single-notch tube that I previously thought Benelli stopped using in anything.
