Two Henry pope rifles
First pic are of a Remington-Hepburn action, barreled and built by Harry Pope. In 28-30-120, purchased by Charles Spenser Squires my great grandfather from the builder Harry Pope in 1911.
Second pics are of a 32-40. Winchester model 1885 high wall. Schutzen Rifle. Built by Harry Pope. Also purchased by my great grandfather. I also have a x14 scope with what I believe to be serial number 701 and my great grandfather’s shooting box along accessories. I know the rifles have been refinished once in 1994. I have had them since my grandfather’s passing in 1994. I am looking for more info on them and value of the along with the scope. Thank you |

Mr. Pope was an interesting guy in his pursuit of the perfect target rifle, and cartridge, the .32/40 being his favorite. I can only make a guess at value, but can say either one of those rifles with accessories would be in the $4K range.
This is just my opinion, and no disrespect intended, you would be an absolute fool to sell either one. Two reasons, one a family heirloom/legacy. Two, kept clean and sitting in a safe, they will probably be worth more next year than any stock or bond you've invested in. Research Pope and his rifles, it'll give you better appreciation for what you have. |

Thank you for the info. They are family heirlooms but I don’t really have any attachment to them. So I am thinking they will be looking for new homes
