Default Pizza MRE

Interesting article from the NYT about pizza MRE.

It even has a review from some high-priced pizza chef who gives it some compliments.

Overall, an interesting read about the history of MREs.

If you have enough Tabasco bottle-ettes, anything but the omlette will be palatable.

This I can confirm.

I loved the omelette with ham. My Co. Gunny and I were the only ones in the entire BN that liked them. Worked out great cause I could dang near trade a cold turd for that MRE as long as Gunny wasn't around.

I hated Chicken A La King, but everyone else loved it; I loved Omelet with Ham & Corned Beef Hash. I could pretty regularly trade 1 CAK for a Omelet & CBH - breakfast of champions!

I liked the omelet as long as it was warmed up and had the Tabasco sauce

Here is a video review of it. This guy is crazy. He gets ancient and exotic combat rations and eats them. The oldest one he has eaten was a individual ration from the 1899 second Boer war.

I loved those things. I even remember when they were known as "Ham and Eggs" in C-rations. And yes, you could eat quite well as pretty much everybody would give them away. You didn't even have to trade for them.

Ham and eggs, or omelette weren't in the MREs until some years after they were introduced and when they started to appear many people thought they were something new.

Nope. Same thing, just a different shape.

I’d have cut the tounge off my jungle boots and doused IT in Tabasco before I stooped so low as to consume the omlette. Friggin’ hot wets (beef or chicken broth ladeled into a canteen cup) are more satisfying than the omlette.

Some of you guys have stomachs like a steel trap.

That was a huge part of it. It literally looks like vomit in a Hollywood Denny’s parking lot.

I was a big fan of the beef frankfurters. Nobody else liked them so it was always easy to get them. Not so god cold, but great heated up. Omelette was ok. Chicken a la king...nasty, the chow main...nasty.
