i Have the same Sena SMH10 and like it alot. A trick for better sound I found on a touring forum is to buy replacement foam for headphones and install it in the helmet over the speakers. It cuts down on wind noise, improves the sound quality of the speakers, but doesn't cut out all the road noises like ear buds.

I actually swapped out the original speakers on my SMH10R with a pair of speakers from a Koss headset. The sound is 100% better but what I've found helps even more is to wear foam ear plugs (illegal in some states, check your local laws) to cut down on wind noise. With my full face modular helmet the difference with the plugs is night and day. I can hear my helmet speakers as well as external sounds much better and even my stereo system comes in with much greater clarity. This is on a full faring bike. The wind buffeting in most helmets is a slow death to the ears. The plugs make a HUGE (or is it YUGE?) difference.

Agreed I used the smh 10 speakers at full blast with foam ear plugs. Sounded amazing and still could hear the road easily

can you explain this. I remember when these came out they were the top of the line. I have put off buying one for years and saw this deal and thought it would be good for music/calls when out on long rides.

What about the newer models makes them better? in your opinion is it worth it to pony up the extra $ and get a newer model?

thanks

Also looks like SENA is selling these as "refub" (which i likely suspect are new overstock) on their site for $179 and the newer 30K for $199
