I have CZ 457 Jaguar, the rifle weight more than 6#, I am looking for a very light stock with cheeck rest to replace the OEM stock. Imagine, carry a 6# rifle in hands for couple hours to shoot freehand is too much for an old guy liked me.
I am very appreciated all of the recommendations. Edit: After shot free hand for 100 rds my arms very tired, I like to shot 300+ at least ![]() Last edited by newbie1234; 11-07-2022 at 3:41 PM.. |

Sorry but I'd be surprised if you can find anything lighter than the factory stock. Have you removed it to weigh the stock by itself? And no offense but 6lbs is already fairly light weight. I built a sub 4lb 10-22 years ago but it was kinda pricey.

OP can add a sling and not carry rifle in hands for couple hours. Additionally, get a second stock and router spaces in buttstock and forearm to reduce weight.
Like on this Revolution Extreme 10/22 stock. ![]() But, I'll agree that 6lbs is a light rifle.

The 457 Synthetic American is almost 1 lb lighter than the Jaguar, but it has a way shorter barrel. I suggest buying a shorter barrel with same profile and a custom stock made from honeycombed lightweight materials reinforced with carbon fiber.

Good 2 point sling will help the OP as long as he can swing it up to shoulder level quickly.
As to the weight I would skeletonize the existing stock and not swap to another stock. He can always install a cheek riser on it as needed. Break out the wood working tools and get to work. Seal up the newly exposed wood when your done. Makes for a good diy project.

That 457 model has a 28.5 inch long barrel. That's where all the weight it and you can buy barrels from CZ to swap out and it's super easy just two set screws. I have a 455 ultra lux with the 28.5 barrel and have a 24 inch threaded on mine for my .22 can's. You'll not take too much off in wieght with a lighter wood stock but you could take a pound or more easy with a shorter barrel...swap is super easy.

Have you removed the stock and weighed it? I doubt you'll find another stock that's much lighter. As others have said, that long barrel is a big part of the weight.
I would suggest purchasing a lighter factory 22 rifle. Consider guns like the Browning SA-22 Grade I, the Winchester Wildcat 22 LR, the old Marlin Papoose (70PSS), or the Rossi Single Shot matched pair .22 LR/20 gauge. Even the standard Ruger 10/22 is lighter than your Jaguar. You can also buy all sorts of lightweight aftermarket components to really lighten up a 10/22.
