Default Non-fading Uniforms

Anyone here have a recommendation for a uniform that doesn't fade prematurely? Looking for cargo pockets and color will be LAPD blue. Thanks.

I don’t think I ever worse anything that wouldn’t fade after a year or so if working days/on an outdoors assignment all year. I just planned on buying new uniforms every year or so.

Good luck, hopefully someone will have better info

That don’t fade, no such thing. This is why departments give yearly uniform allowances. I can’t tell you how many faded, scuffed up, or just worn out uniforms I went through in 20 years.

The ones we are wearing (new technology from flying cross apparently) wears with even minimal rubbing against belt equipment. Anything with cotton is going to fade, but these are fading in certain spots and it stands out

It's all going to fade. If you wear machine washable uniforms, wash in cold with Woolite for darks. It'll help.

Not a LEO but I do know how to wear a never faded uniform. It requires no less than six sets and a trip to the dry cleaners twice a week. To always look good (and tightly creased) dry cleaning is the ONLY way.

Iíve had good luck with 5.11 TDUís but YMMV

Second the dry cleaning, my agency wonít issue more than three uniforms so I wash n wear and put in for new stuff twice a year.

I use woolite... works very well. Just looking for some options that hold color for at least the first year. I usually replace my after the end of the year. The ones we are currently wearing are fading and turning white around the edges after a few months.

I've had the best luck with the 5.11 PDU, either twill or taclite. The stryke is more comfortable with the stretch material but seems to fade faster. I work nights now so I go with the stryke for comfort.

First Tactical is advertised to last twice as many washings as comparable 5.11 before fading due to the way the dye.

First Tactical is really taking off Elk Grove PD uses them for there patrol guys and I have seen it in Placerville and a few others. I also have seen some CHP guys.

I have a pair of the pants and I like them. Good value as well.

Also fun fact First Tactical is from former 5.11 executives and is now owned by Point Blank
