Default Mask required to pump gas at Costco

Was at Costco, so I decided to get gas. I drive up and I see a mask sign......fu

I get the nozzel in the tank and here comes the gas attendant......."Sir, we have a mask policy when pumping gas".......I say, "So"

He gets one more in "it's the policy of all Costco's", I reply "so" and the crowd within ear shot laughed out loud!

As I leave I get thumbs ups from a few not wearing a mask

We are outside at least 10' or more apart, The mask is useless....... Now wiping down the pump, the nozzle, the handle and the keypad might actually do something for the regular flu/cold........dumb *** policy

I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK FOR A REFILL!!!!!!

That's a little silly cause it's the open air, with great distances between people.

The virus is from the lungs, not randomly in the air.

Even if in contact with someone who has the virus, you need proximity, dwell time, that is time near the person, and usually confined situation...Thats why people in nursing homes get it, they're confined, and elder and have manhy other conditions.

Silly.

Had the same thing happen in OC a few weeks ago except it was another Costco member being a Karen. I told her to stay the phuck away from me and we'll be just fine. She clutched her pearls and walked away. Idiots.

Same thing happened to me. Just go with the flow. I was in line at spectrum today to get new modem and wifi and some woman asked me to put mask on as I was drinking from water bottle. I just laughed and said OK.

I have never seen a mask for Costco gas station before.

Tell them to pound sand.

See the way he walks down the street
Watch the way he shuffles his feet
My, he holds his head up high
When he goes walking by, he's my guy

He's a rebel and he'll never ever be any good
He's a rebel 'cause he never ever does what he should
But just because he doesn't do what everybody else does...

I never wear a mask for errands like that. I'm outdoors and I'm the guy that puts the shopping cart back, for that contradiction in character. If someone approaches me, dear God, they might catch the virus. I'm in and out in minutes. If I'm not in your space, I'm not bothering you. If I'm inside your property, your rules.

I think it depends on the county. I've seen the signs at Costcos in San Diego, Yolo and San Mateo counties. I don't remember if I saw the requirements at the Irvine, El Centro or Pacoima Costcos.

I don't think I saw any requirements at Costcos in Phoenix, Salt Lake City or Reno.

I did a lot of driving in the last three weeks.

I get gas at Costco every week, with either my truck or my wife’s car....never seen a mandatory mask sign. Hell, I got gas there, unmasked, on my motorcycle this morning

But then again, I don’t think I’ve ever looked for one....as it makes zero sense

Interesting, lol.....

Hmm, didn’t see any signs. But I wasn’t paying attention. No one I saw was wearing one, except the attendant.

I believe the local county's are dictating this issue. These signs are relatively new also.

Just flew on American airlines. New policy is not only to wear a mask, but it can't be a mask with a 'valve' on it.

Why are they even wasting time on this ****.

Does it really make a difference if you're outside and 10 feet apart? If you want people to respect YOUR RIGHTS, you need to respect their rights. It's Costco's RIGHT to require nose rings to pump gas if they want to. Yea, masks are stupid and don't do anything except, possibly prolong the pandemic but, either respect the rights of others no matter how they want to legally exercise their rights or NEVER complain about those who don't respect your rights. Why is this such a hard concept for people to understand? If you don't agree with how a person or business is exercising their rights, tell them with your wallet. Anything else is just condoning people to violate your rights, including your 2A rights.

Try to go for a Mountain hike in NM without a mask. Yes, a hike! You’ll cause heart attacks and get a ticket.

The funny part is that the masks with the valve actually do a better job of "protecting others" than the cloth reusable masks.

I don't wear a mask when pumping gas, hiking, biking, or pretty much any outdoor activity. While pumping gas, you're outdoors and you are generally at least 6' away from others. I only think masks are necessary indoors and/or when you cannot maintain 6' of physical distance.

However, their pumps, their rules. I think people who force store employees to confront them over their violation of rules that those employees did not set are complete and total jack-butts.

Where is the parody thread:

I Was Getting Costco Gasoline And Some Guy On the Otherside of the Pump Was Upwind. He Coughed Repeatedly. He Looked Feverish. He Kept Saying "So!"

CG's shortest parody.

I was getting gas at COSTCO when: a guy was rude to a young worker. The buyer did not see the attendant give him the finger as he drove away and all of us applauding.

GOLLLEEE a mask at Costco ! Well in my vast history of pumping gas from age 9 in my dad's gas station thru my time pumping gas since then I figure the fumes from the gas nozzle are deadlier than any virus bug that is stupid enuff to float by my truck ! Can the bug juice/droplet spray survive in the fumes, ya suppose ?

I went to shop at a used tool store. Nobody was there except the kid running the till. The place has a large roll up door. I went in without a mask. The kid chastised me. I went out to my car and left. He came out in the parking lot flapping his hands as I drove away. Hope he realizes why the shop goes bankrupt and he is unemployed in a few months.

This is especially true if you're sporting NRA bumper stickers, etc. If we want the unarmed population (and it's their right to choose to be) to respect our armed rights, we can't keep bolstering the notion that armed = disrespectful jerks.
It wasn't so long ago that the whole point of the open carry movement was to demonstrate that armed people are civilized, polite people that you would WANT in your neighborhood. Many of of those demonstrations were organized right here on this site.

This whole misguided "MUH FREEDOM!!!" is an embarrassment. Anyone claiming to be "conservative" or pro individual rights is stunningly ignorant if they cannot see that these showdowns on PRIVATE PROPERTY are a selfish, stupid tantrum. Crapping on the property owner's rights because "muh rights" is a third grade mentality. For the life of me I cannot see how this has become some cause on "our" side.

If you don't like it, go elsewhere. Easy peasy. You have to wear shoes and a shirt, too, but that's somehow ok?

These are the kind of sheep that will need to be disindoctrinated and that **** won't be easy. Many will resist returning to no masks and dining inside, that's how strong the conditioning is with these people.

That's what's going to be hard to overcome.
