Default San Diego area cerakote?

Do we have a goto shop?

Previously I had taken my firearms to Gunfighter but I am worried service and quality has gone down since Ryan closed the main shop.

I've been happy with AO sword but I think their gunsmith is on the way out and only does one or two days a week there. I see new faces everytime I am there. Although my gunsmithing work has been flawless, I can't attest to their cerakote.

So anyone have a recommendation? Thanks in advanced for any thoughts.

I'd still take it to Gunfighter Tactical. I have some stuff being cerakoted currently. I liked GFT's prices ($50 per part vs others charging more than that). Tbf I only called one other place, and they charged almost double.

Curious, what makes you think quality would decrease? I would think quality would increase since cerakoting and gunsmithing is all they do now without the pressures of retail.

Never even consider anyplace besides GFT… their work is always quality and on point!

I don't know if they've changed, but when they had their store, GFT never actually did cerakote, they sent stuff out to someone else to do it (up in Fallbrook at the time, I think). Without getting into details, this caused significant problems with work they did for me. Personally I won't take things to them anymore.

Thanks for the replies!

Entirely anecdotal but I recall some posts of poor quality work from their gunsmithing a few months back. I know, it's not cerakote.

But I agree, I didn't have any problems with my previous cerakote work from them.

In this day and age of ever evolving staff, I have no clue if it would even be the same guy doing cerakote today as who did my pistol last year.

I did reach out to them on their FB page and the response was that they were going to raise prices.

I'll probably just end up going to GFT since it's nothing special, just fixing my bad rattle can job on my receiver and lower.

Technically pushing a year. Dropped off two receivers that I bought from Mezcalfud in 08/21 and two barrels, unfinished in the white that I bought from Fred Fedderson. Wanted the barrels machined to screw in to the threaded receivers. A month or so went by... I stopped by for a progress check. I was told that the machinist didn't want to do it.

Fine, can't make the man work if he doesn't want to. Interesting approach. Checked my paperwork for all of my contact info. It was all correct yet nobody tried to contact me.

Shipped the whole mess off to Ct., got it back and asked GFT to do the barrels, one in burnt bronze, the other in a nice silvery aluminum. I figured it would go well with my other gold one.

Got the bronze back and mounted in a Bell and Howell stock, runs well. Still waiting on the aluminum/silvery one. Apparently they were shipped the wrong color color.

I'm in the air freight business, nothing in my world is more than a day away.

GFT is in a different world..........
