They just ask you a couple questions.( arrests, drugs , where you work ect) Confirm what you have written down. I think they just generally want to get a feel for you. Very friendly. In fact everyone I talked to during the whole process was super friendly. For me it was a lot of explaining what the next step would be and how to speed up (or at least not slow down) the process.

They told me I was boring in the eyes of the law, and suggested I get some excitement in my life like sky diving.

Basically, be friendly, don’t volunteer information that’s unnecessary, and be consistent with the answers you provided in the initial questionnaire.

now that cooper is the sherriff, any predication on the new levels of requirements for a LTC that will be coming.

https://kste.iheart.com/featured/sac...edes-election/

He is an anti-2A democrat who doesn't think people have a right to arms or self defense.

I voted for Barnes but Cooper did not sound like he was too worried about the CCW holders. Above all else he is a politician. I think he may of made it more difficult for us, but with this new court ruling, I think he has perfect cover from his political donors. I doubt much will change.

Honestly, after reading most of the Supreme Court ruling, I don't think much can change. They were specifically warned against making things more difficult. Sacramento , while better than many, is not an easy or cheap process already.

Interview basically just goes over your application. Will correct any issues . Asks about drug use, arrests and the like. They were very nice and I think just wanted to see that you are somewhat sane. They will explain the next steps. You do not have to pay any money other than the application fee you already paid at the interview.

The DOJ is the livescan. They will basically send you down to get fingerprinted and have a background check done. They have various locations you can go. You do have to pay for that.

Next you will want to schedule a class. Only time I would not do that right away is if I thought something would show up in my background check. My class was $270 for 1 gun but some are less.

Lastly you just wait and wait for your livescan to clear. They will call you to tell you to pay the last part of your permit. When you do that you can go pick up your permit.

How long did it take for your background clearance to come back? I had my interview 6/29 and then did my finger print the next day 6/30.

Cooper has no authority until 1/1/2023 after he is sworn in.

But I will guarantee he will toe the line scribed for him by the Legislature, the County Board of Supervisors, Mayor Steinberg and the Social Justice Warrior brigades..

Moved to Sacramento a year ago and want to start the ccw process. Someone (not SCSO) told me I had to live in Sac Co for 2 years before I could apply. Anybody heard this before? I can not find anything to back this up.

Can my wife use my registered firearm for her CCW application in Sacramento County? Or would she need to register it in her name? Thanks

A bill is in the works that requires that the applicant be the registered owner.

There is, however, a law that apparently passed a couple of years ago that allows both parties of a relationship to be registered at DROS. Don't know the mechanism behind it - hope an FFL does know how to do it.

Thanks for the reply. So I called Sac Sheriff CCW and the agent I spoke to said if we are legally married, she can use the firearms registered in my name for her ccw permit even if it's already listed on my permit. He said she legally owns it too since she's my spouse which he is right because if we get divorce, she gets half of everything we own lol. Handguns will not need to be registered in her name at all for her permit. Just thought I'd put it out there if anyone is interested.

There has been a backlog all year. And it's probably goung to get worse. Mine took almost 90 days. You can check your status at the DOJ website.

How long after the interview with a sheriff do you usually get approved?

For me it was the same day but they told me that it could be a few days to a couple of weeks. I guess it is after the "committee" meets.

About time. I think they issue Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am almost certain you will get it Tuesday. Congratulations. I know it sucked for you but I am guessing it will be even worse for those after you. I was 90 days and not the far ahead of you.

Is it true your 16 hour handgun training completion documents have to be within 60 days of your Livescan scan results?

I did mine after I moved, appointments were 8 months out. They did ask to see a title or lease agreement.
