Need advice on selling c&r
I have collected c&r several mosin 91/30, m44 carbine, garant m1, beautiful with scope k31 swiss, and I need to sell them due to poor health. I need to know current law. Can i just sell them cash and carry or do I require to sell them through gun shop? What is reasonable price for mosin, k31, garant service grade 1? Thank you very much for helping an old guy out. God bless

Dealer/manufacturer. You might want to list them here http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/f...play.php?f=321
If you post pictures in this thread, I'm sure people will chime in with honest pricing suggestions, then you can use that information to list them in the forum above :-) BTW, not in the market for anything you mentioned myself, I'm in the selling phase too but due to fire threat, not health. I hope yours improves.

Just an FYI. If a C&R is sporterized it has to go through a ffl because it's not in original configuration.
Hopefully yours are in original configuration. Prices will depend on condition, specific variant, manufacturer, etc. The resale market is a bit soft right now, whereas a couple years ago when the CMP was scraping the bottom of the barrel Garands were selling pretty quickly for a premium. Now that the CMP got a bunch back from the Philippines they are readily available again. Prices for Mosins are kind of a roller coaster. They spiked up a couple years ago, then the market softened. Now some people are asking a lot for them but they're also not moving. I've picked up two recently pretty cheap and was surprised they weren't sold already at the prices. I've noticed the price on K-31s go up recently. If it's an aftermarket scope though you'll take a hit on that since it's not original. Good luck with the sales and hope your health issues improve! |

That's arguable. There are plenty of sporterized Enfields and Mausers (think cigarette rifles) which are undeniably C&R. A Mosin in a plastic Archangel stock with a muzzle break, no, but prove the stock wasn't shortened 50 years ago.

OK. Will definitely take pictures, they are in beautiful shape. Especially garant and swiss k31, look hardly used. I'm not looking to make money, just if I can let someone enjoy, then I'm happy since my eyesight and health are not like it used to.

A bit of friendly advice, it's spelled "Garand". If you spell it wrong, then no one will find your ad when they do a word search.

ATF also fails to give what specifically "original configuration" means, while explicitly giving exception to changing sights to aftermarket or non original, and/or adding/removing scope. Therefore, what is original configuration? I personally subscribe to the theory that it means a rifle must have all original metal work (I.E. original [non jeweled or whatever else they do] bolt, original caliber, no metal ground off (sight bases and ears, etc). Give a rifle's wood could be eaten by termites and replaced with the same, wood, a simple cut job, to me, still qualifies it as "C&R", but, a very in depth and time consuming cut job would not. I'm not an 01FFL, so I don't really have a ton on the line with my definition, but that just my opinion after reading CFR's, ATF opinions, ATF webpages, and trying to apply logic, reason, and a little bit of scrutiny to their rules EDIT: See my developed argument in this thread

Garand!
Garand! Garand! Garand! Garand! Garand! Garand! Garand! Garand! .......... ................ Should sell quickly above what you paid unless you are asking for the current $1500-$1700 asking price you see at Gunbroker. Need more info-pics to know. Run of the mill Mosins will sell quickly at $200, may take a bit of time at $250, you see a lot of listing now at $350 but those usually stagnate unless they are special. Could be even higher for something unique like a Westinghouse/Remington or a Fin Capture or former sniper. The K-31's are all over the place depending upon the modifications-condition-soldier papers-etc, also what scope you have on it. I would recommend you get an appraisal before listing so you don't leave money on the table when you sell. |

Go to one of your prior posts, click the "edit" button on the lower right of your post, when the new window opens, a new button appears above the old "edit" button which says, "go advanced." That's the one to click.

The sharp edges of the k31 signify that it's not a refinish, so...............
A "fair" price without the scope is $465.oo What kind of scope mount is it? P

Didn’t buy any rifles but it was neat to a bunch of 91/59s in one place and choo choo is a great guy |

That's one of ours. It adds about $50 to the rifle.

yeah he said it was a "St. Marie" which I see looking at your website are perhaps one and the same.
It was nice, I told him probably worth $500-$600 with everything he had which was scope, mount, and cleaning kit. I've already got a nice walnut stocked K31 and if it was sitting in a beech stock I probably would have made an offer. The Garand was a nice Service Grade in USGI stock with DAS cartouche. I believe he sold them all as a package to another calguner. Last edited by huntingsocal; 12-19-2018 at 10:48 AM.. |
