Everyone in this thread needs to give it a rest. I’ve never doubted anyone in this thread. I take everyone at their word and just asked the same respect. As everyone has shown shot damage is highly variable and that’s just the point I was trying to make. Obviously if we’ve all had different experiences there are a lot of variables. I’ve tried to be respectful but stop mentioning me if you don’t have anything nice to say.

IDK about Lynn's buddy and planes I don't know either of them.
Not buying it.

Jumping in this with my experience with my HD shotguns (read the previous reply then the first 15).
I have two Mossberg 500s. One 18" and the other 20".
Longest distance in my house was 21 feet.
At 7 yards both would pattern 2 3/4" high brass 00 about 4-5 inches. I could cover all 9 pellets with the palm of my hand.
I now have only the 20". Loaded with 00 in the mag tube and 6 slugs in a side saddle.
My experience with birdshot is live fire practice. But i found this photo interesting of birdshot in flesh. Don't know the story but looks painful. Though not lethal in that instance.

If you want to go stinging deer with birdshot at that distance and kill one then you'll know.

I don’t want to “sting” anything with a firearm.

I don't want to.

I do know a guy that shot a bear with birdshot at about 35 yards that kept raiding the camp at his mining claim.

It didn't kill it, but it never came back.
